We are showcasing episodes not viewed in decades. Starting from Season 11 (1982), this is the first season when animal furs were no longer offered as prizes, supporting Bob’s advocacy of animal rights in memory of his wife Dorothy Jo.

I think this was only played twice until they realized how impossibly difficult was. Would have made a lot more sense if you could be within a range of $50 or something.

They played it like seven times and it was never won once, even when Bob gave them a starting range. Professor Price was the game only played twice. Telephone Game was played three times, but was retired for being lame. Double Bullseye was also played fewer times because it guaranteed a winner.

Hard to believe both Janice Pennington (nee Janice Maurine Pennington) and Anitra Ford (nee Anitra Joy Weinstein) are now 81 years old. I have seen recent photos of them and they still look great. Anitra left the show in December 1976 and her replacement was Holly Hallstrom (nee Holly Anne Hallstrom) who officially joined the show in February 1977 after she and 2 other models auditioned during January 1977. Dian Parkinson (nee Dianna Lynn Batts) officially joined the show in November 1975 after appearing as a substitute model for Anitra and when the show expanded to an hour.

"The Nova 6-cylinder coupe" has a 350 badge on the fender. Shows you how the show struggled to get prizes at the beginning of its existence. IIRC a piece of gaffer tape was used to cover up the 350 badge by Thursday of the first week.

Yep - a 350 cid engine is 8 cylinders, not 6. Those Novas were also prime candidates for customizers to put even more powerful motors in them. More than enough space in the engine room to accommodate a 427 or even a 454.

And I have to wonder - what were they thinking when they created that game? Now we know why it didn't last that long... and even Double Bullseye when they wanted to force a winner after realizing the single player Bullseye game wasn't won didn't last long either.

I saw the clip of that. The problem with this game is the prices they used often didn't end in a 0 or 5, as most bids by contestants, end in those two numbers.

They really made this game hard to win. I'm pretty sure this contestant repeated her last bid also, which didn't make it any easier. Thank goodness they thought better and turned Bullseye into a much better game later..

This game was promptly retired for being incredibly unwinnable, and Double Bullseye was outright stupid and a waste of time because after that particular pricing game, you know that the next game was Double Prices.
