A walk in the rain wearing my Wilderness Innovation Poncho, as the rain stops I really crave a hot drink. I've got something unusual in my pack, it's a Kettle, not a standard Kettle you are used to seeing, this is a mini Kettle or MKettle by Ghillie. A smaller profile and only 13 oz. These kettles are made to be fueled by sticks and twigs, but I opted for another sort of unusual heat source, a Siphon Stove by Toaks. This alcohol burner weighs only 0.7 oz but it puts out the heat. During the few minutes it takes for my water to get hot, I turn my poncho into a hammock, yes a hammock, take a look.

The rainy spring here makes for an excellent time to hike through the woods, things are so beautiful and fresh. The Ghillie MKettle is used for hot water. I've had this for many years and just found it again digging through a box, I'll do more videos with it coming up, it's a fun piece and at 13 oz not bad to carry. I plan to use the siphon stove in the future as well for times I don't want to build a fire. Of course the poncho comes into play as the key product we make, and being multipurpose I never take it with me where I don't use it for something. In this video I show it going from poncho mode to hammock mode, it is so simple to do. By adding the Quick Connects the conversion is really quick and simple. Hey Perry, what a great job showing off that poncho and what it will do. I don't have one ,but maybe the next time I'm out in the rain I'll catch my old military one on a snag and rip it in two!😉 Thank you for another super video.

Aren't you supposed to remove the stopper from the kettle as it is heating? It would create a steam pressure vessel otherwise.

Yes you do remove it, if you don't it will pop out at some point.

I also have the pot stand that makes it so you can put a pan or cup on top and heat it at the same time. I don't think they make that anymore. I don't know how practical the kettles are, they don't really boil any faster that I can tell, but they are different and fun to use so what the heck..
