She is lying through her teeth. You can see at that last time out Caitlin was not happy after Sides gave them the play. I bet she told Clark not to take the shot, instead she told her to pass it. She made Caitlin the 3rd guard. This coach sucks.

I wish the reporters would ask her harder questions. Like "Why are you putting the best NCAA scorer in the corner? Why are you putting Wheeler on the court with Caitlin? Why are you not telling Mitchell to pass the ball?"

If the coach wants Clark to be more aggressive and assertive, why is she putting Wheeler in there to put on a dribbling show and play one on one, while icing Caitlin out. All Sides is doing is passing the buck, someone is responsible for Clark’s low shot totals.

She waits until NOW?, this coach is a piece of work. They needed that Chicago win, all that they worked for against those mediocre teams during the 4 game winning streak was blown apart with terrible defensive coaching and maybe, I repeat MAYBE just as bad of offensive coaching. The defense was horrible. switches, lack thereof......assignments, help attention to whos camping at the 3 and so many more things were atrocious.

I think Caitlin wants a team that passes the ball around to find the best shot. What usually happens, though, is when Caitlin passes the ball, everyone goes one on one against the opponent. That makes them very easy to guard.

This “you do you” thing for Caitlyn is all well and good, but eventually she will need the rest of the TEAM on board with that strategy. If Sides says this but continues to build a strategy that takes Caitlyn off-ball, then it won’t win games.

When Catlin comes off a pick she looks to drive first vs shoot first. This is a coaching philosophy. Rick Pitino was an advocate for this style of play. I wonder if this is what coach wants her to do? Also, they don't run any set plays for her, that I see. The Fever's team defense sucks. They let Reese and Cardoso overpower them on the boards. Also, Chicago won the game at the free throw line and on the boards.

I noticed that Caitlin is mugged every time she’s driving to the basket but when Angel is touched there’s a foul. So who has a special whistle? There’s more to the refs that are coming from higher up. Just feels that way.

The Fever's 4th QTR was an absolute mess when CC isn't taken shots. During the last play of the game, why is CC inbounding the ball? CC should have had an opportunity to possibly win the game. Iowa Coach Bluder said, "Let Caitlin be Caitlin...". Sides should live by these words and let CC do her thing.

Watching the fourth quarter was like watching my boys when they started playing for their local country team. I can’t believe the same crap happens in professional basketball . The last 2 plays were drawn up for Smith and yes Wallace! On the play Christy is talking about is the one she passed to Mitchell who missed the layup and who misses half her layups. But did you hear her say that was a great pass she made to Mitchell who unfortunately missed it? No she said I think Caitlin should have shot it or drove it too the basket which I think would have helped the team!. Caitlyn only had 12 shots when she should be averaging around 20 a game! Think Sides definitely sounded like she was throwing Caitlin under the bus when she said, "I really thought Caitlin was going to take it to the rim."

The sooner Coach Sides and her players allow Caitlin to run the offense 100% they will be far more successful. It is essential for her teammates to fully committed to this. There are still too many instances where her teammates are not letting her handle the ball and are playing individual plays. Like you’ve said Caitlin is not a selfish player and with her great ability at being able to see the entire floor and make amazing passes and assists. She should be shooting at least 18 to 20 shots per game.

Anyone with half a gnats brain knows Wheeler is Sides spoiler. Sides.has a clear and present pattern. We need Temi Fagbenle(who hinted on IG she's ready) back she plays with CC's tempo. AB has her confidence back. Mitchell has been spoon fed enough. The next 5 away games will be brutal playing with the top teams in the W. As ususal, I doubt seriously screens will be setup for her. This is why she has to throw from deep. Time will tell.

Sides is speaking out of both sides of her mouth. She also said in the post game interview that the reason they lost is they didn’t get the ball in the paint enough and settled for too many jump shots! No mention of CC getting the ball inside time after time. CC would have had 20 assists if people converted!

Hi Adrienne, as usual, you are spot on and in tune. Clark herself is now playing sarcastically. Yesterday we all saw a sarcastic pass - to Wallace, with the game on the line. Pre-sides, that is a shot that Clark takes 11/10 times. Now some think is ''scared". Hardly. She is following Sides dictates, to an absurd T. You can see Clark's facial expressions, exasperated, asking, BEGGING to be able to run what she knows could work. Then Coach Sides tells her no, and Clark closes her mouth, exasperated. Clark understands that: 1. Without order - including following her coach and The Rules - her basketball will degrade to the level of the WNBA. Doing so would be her going down to their level, rather than her holding the line to lift the league up. - She sees the big picture, long play. 2. Clark understands that she is on an island. Sides will hold some semblance of order and favor to Clark, in response to Clark's service to Sides coaching (even if this is debasing). Note: Wheeler gives Angel Reese a low-five on the free throw line. Wheeler's opportune timing to pass out some bling - holding onto her playing time. Smith's alliances with Carrington, others. The endless side eye and cumulative average of 1 to 2 passes (per game), passes - not assists, from Mitchell. NOT ONE player has had her back - while she is knocked around EVERY game. Of course the mob of negativity, exclusion, and violence enacted and enabled against her by other players, coaches, and the WNBA. 3. Clark also knows that the Powers that Be are watching... and is banking on some of them taking reasonable action, most likely in the offseason (addressing Sides, trades, rules). - Clark has been doubted before, ESPECIALLY on the junior international teams where she met a lot of THE SAME women who iced her out. This in no small part is why she has chosen to walk her own (Iowan) path. She believes that excellence through hard work and stoicism will break her through. On this, she is correct.

I'm wondering if there's been a little locker room grumbling from other players after CC had those 30 point games. She hasn't been getting shots up since then and the coach started wanting her to pound it inside every possession. At this point, they need to trade a couple selfish players or let CC go to an expansion team where they can build around her.

CC should be the only green light player on this team. I know that Mitchell has been the team highest scorer for the last 3yrs but that hasn’t lead to winning basketball just puffed up stats. Winning basketball as this team is constructed has start with CC running the offense and picking her spots to score all throughout the game, especially in the 4th quarter. Play inside out is a bad way to play but when that’s not working, the shooters gotta mix it up until it all gets on track. Your best scorers should have the most shots and your role players have understand and realize that they’re role players for a reason. Sides needs to grill it into each role player what she expects of them when they inter the game and not allow them to stray away from that. If they’re not willing to do their role, bench them until they can. If they don’t wanna for fill that role then they should be traded because they’re just a cancer and a hindrance to the team’s success. Let the starters play the majority of games until they need to take a blow or unless foul trouble becomes an issue. If they played this way, they’d beat a team like The Sky everytime because they don’t even have point guard and we had them down by 15, there’s no way we should’ve lost that game but with everyone thinking they should shoot whenever they want losing is what happens.

I do believe now CC was telling Coach Sides after she wasn’t picked for the Olympic team, I don’t think CC was talking about herself that they’ve awakened a monster . “The monster is her giant fan base “and is monstrously mad at the stupidest decision. I’ve been watching Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner during games and all they do is hold their ankles or their elbows and they look like they’re in pain. CC and Reese should’ve been on that team as the 11th and 12th player just to gain some experience everyone knows the 11th and 12th don’t play much, but it’s the experience and respect to the youth. The Olympics is a global showcase for America’s greatest youth and athletes.

First, I think coach Sides is simply covering her own ass in that press conference. I don't think she is really going to give Clark the green light to play her game. But I think in time Clark will earn her coach's respect in practice and with her playmaking and leadership skills. And I think it's only a matter of time that management has a "meeting" with coach and expresses their displeasure at how Clark is being used, the constant hate mail that the team is getting, the media criticism, etc. And that if things do not change regarding Clark's touches, her shot attempts, and lack of plays ran for her, then she will be fired, and they will find a coach that will do those things.

She gave CC the green light but she must devise "go to" plays at crunch time to get her the daylight to get a shot off.

I don't believe the coach for a second. She will tell the press this to make CC the scapegoat and behind the scenes tells the tolerates the team not passing to her or creating more than a few screens a game.

I do not know why, but Sides is a believer in Wheeler, who is a ball hog. We'll have to wait and see what the next game brings. Will she let Clark be Clark, or will she put wheeler in the 4th quarter to run the show and lose the game?

How did Sides end up coaching WNBA anyway. She needs to go back to coaching elementary students and work her way up Baby steps to coaching. She has zero skills to coaching WNBA, judging by what I've seen.

Nothing makes me madder than when a team loses a large lead. BAD coaching. It’s like an NFL team going into a prevent defense. I root for the team doing the prevent defense to lose. Keep doing what the hell got you the freaking lead. And to top it off, the Fever lost to a seriously inferior team. I expect to lose to Connecticut, or the Liberty, or the Aces. But Chicago Sky. Their team sucks worse than the Fever. I turned the sound down on the TV when the announcer said the Sky was on a 10-2 run. Knew exactly how this game would end. I cannot believe that Sides intentionally screws this up, but it looks like it many, many times during these games. I see her screaming from the sidelines and the game goes to shit. I keep hearing rumors about Lisa Bluder getting involved at Indiana. How great would that be? There are women on this team who ball hog and another one who insists on that stupid scoop layup which she misses more times than not. Get them on the bench.
