Same thing with me. I knew nothing about submission when I got married, I was disrespecting my husband anytime the slightest occasion was presented. However he kept bestowing love upon me , serving me and my desire as a wife. I felt his pain and I wanted to honor him as God wanted but it was so hard. But he just loved me.. Most Christian women follow this verse and ultimately get killed by their husbands. It seems we need wisdom in dealing with abusive relationships, not prayer or fasting. I'm not downplaying the latter, but wisdom is profitable to direct.
