That was simultaneously the most coherent and nonsensical previously on segment ever.

The reason why the bugs told the Exiles that the Time Broker was a collective conscious was because of their culture. The bugs aren't strictly a collective conscious, but their hive-like mentality would lead them to think that a being the claimed to be a collective conscious would seem reassuring. Humans would find the idea of "some Benevolent Power" reassuring, but because of their alien culture, that idea wouldn't be the first thing the bugs thought of. It's a bit of clever callback that shows that the bugs themselves weren't a retcon but were supposed to be the real identity of the Time Broker all along. Or possibly it's such a good retcon that it's indistinguishable from original intention. But this is Marvel we're talking about, and when have they ever pulled off a retcon that was actually good?

For the record: If my name was "Apocalypse" and I had to give my son a name that says "fear me, I am your destruction" I'd either make it that as an acronym "Fmiayd" Or staight up something like "Annihilation"

Aw, you left out the part where Blink defeats Hyperion a second time by teleporting half a sand dune into him. Blink beat a Superman expy. TWICE. That's gotta count for something.

I loved Tony Bedard's run on Green Lantern Corps in New 52, so it makes sense to me that he'd be the fixer to come in and make all this Exiles backstory MAKE SENSE. And I'm sure he'd have loved to have forgotten about the "collective unconscious" stuff too, but he was stuck with it. Though I'm sure even in THAT case Winick was just being intentionally vague so future writers could pick up the plot thread and resolve it, or not, as they saw fit.

death and resurrection stories are common in superhero stories... how about a resurrection month, you could tie it in with a story line where I don't know, Ninja stile dancer dies separated and you have to summon Moriarty from long box of the damned to get his soul back in time to resurrect him and show how to do a resurrection story correctly all the while reviewing shitty resurrection stories. personally I'm hoping for the one where Spastic-boy prime punches reality so hard Jason Todd woke up and the one where GOD literally uses a pencil to drawl the Thing form the fantastic 4 back to life

Time for Backstory: The Squadron Supreme and Champions of Angor were created when the Avengers and JLA writers had lunch. They decided to do the quasi-crossovers they couldn't do legally. This lead to the Avengers fighting The Squadron Sinister and the DC guys kind of chickening out. Instead of villains based on Avengers characters, they created a few copies of the Leaguers, but had them do Avenger-type things (e.g. clone Batman throwing a trashcan lid). A year later, they did it again, and it worked out a little better with the Avengers crossing into the Squadron Supreme word and the JLA meeting the Champions of Angor. DC really wouldn't do much with them until Justice League Europe and even then only two survived (the Yellowjacket equivalent and Scarlet Witch equivalent). It kind of makes sense Marvel did more with the Squadron as at the time, the DC heroes were far more in the public consciousness going back decades whereas at the time of their creation, Spider-Man was really the only big time stand out Marvel character.

In all seriousness though, I wish I could feel more connected to this group the same way Lewis and other fans are of this series. Especially because after seeing Linkara's "March of the Titians", the "ROMtrospective", and "Blue Skying" years ago, it DID want to make me go and pick up new series featuring these characters and experience their adventures for myself. I never had time for them admittingly (most of that was just life getting in the way) however, I just wish I could express the same interest here, that I did elsewhere.

The idea of SJWAC being a presidential negotiator is arguably the funniest thing to grace a Previously On segment so far.

Just looked it up cos he looked familiar: Dude with American buzzsaw embedded is this storiy's version of Maverick (Christoph Nord, kinetic absorber/redirector) from the weapon X program. In the version I remember (Wolverine and the x-men cartoon) one of wolverine's missions was to kidnap him for the program, and while the mission was a success Wolvie's resolve was tested by Christoph's daughter Kristle (3 guesses what she can do).

What franchise do you think handles Death really well (with a few expectations). I would say considering how many deaths there are in JoJo's Bizzare Adventure it handles the concept of death pretty well with a few problems here or there but what do you guys think?

My problem with this bit of eXiles' run was how varied the art tended to be. We'd get solidly penciled art from Paul Pelletier, then we'd go back to Jim Calafiore's sketchy, amateurish work. It would have been so much better if Pelletier had been the regular artist.

How are people killing Deadpool? He is a very fast regenerator. He should be able to walk that off.

I'd rather have what Exiles seems to be doing with death than what Sliders did to Professor Arturo (Basically killing him off in one of the most brutal, pointless, ways imaginable - after doing quite a fetching cancer 'not sure if he's cured or not because it's one of the universes which may actually have real magic' giving an opportunity for him to just... Leave by settling down on a nice reality to live out the rest of his life, be it a few months or a few decades)... Seemingly because the new showrunner didn't like the character, despite him being the second best character on the show and working perfectly in both the original Alternate History anthology format (which worked in some proper sci-fi on occasion; world where time's arrow flows backwards) and the second Horror anthology format. Yeah, he was never the soul of the show, that was always Rembrandt, but... He was more important to the show's success, for me, than either Wade or Quinn. 1986? Realistic superheros by uniting the origin event and making the world identical to ours until that? That's... Weirdly in line with the premise for Wild Cards, and about the same date - just beating that anthological novel series to the punch by a year.

To be fair though, I DO have a favorite alternate reality superhero from marvel myself. May Mayday Parker, the original daughter of Spider-Man and the Amazing, Spectacular Spider-Girl. (Now Spider-Woman) Considering she's form the MC2 universe, and was around at the same time, I'm kind of shocked she's never had a crossover with Exiles. Would've been fun.
