I plantedsome dbl.crop soybeans behind wheat one year using a John Deere 7100 planter and due to being dry and in June we burned the wheat stubble off and disked the field pulled harrow across it. Set the clod knockers down about 2 inches and set the planter depth at about 3 inches got a perfect stand hardest part was with the first cultivation mainly because of the berm in the middle of the rows from the clod knockers. But, that was because we got a late June rain but the beans would have never come up to a stand because of moisture or lack thereof. The only thing that would have made the cultivation easier would have been had I had single rib instead of dbl. Rib on my tractor front tires..
