It's so fun to see their reaction to snow when it's just something that I take for granted.

same here. We don't notice a lot of amazing things that are common for us and weird for others.

Here in the midwest of the U.S.A....no matter how quickly we tire of it..the first snowfall of the season is special!..it does bring out the 'kid' in me and I am age 54..

You have to experience the magic of going to bed with nothing on the ground, then waking to a complete blanket of a foot or more of snow that fell overnight, leaving all the fine twigs of the trees covered in clear ice. It looks like a land of pure white with crystal trees and shrubs. This is when you can blow off a few hundred photos without going more than a few feet outside your door. Glad you enjoyed what you did get to see, but that wet snow/rain mix we normally stay inside for. A real heavy pure snow is magical even for people who have lived with it all their lives.

This was really cool to see. I'm from Wisconsin and snow has been such a huge part of my life because my dad's really into snowmobiling, and I've been riding a snowmobile for as long as I can remember. It made me really happy to see how happy you guys were about the snow. :)

Snow and sleet are two different things! Sleet isn't good but heavy snowfall is magical because snow falls softly and peacefully.

Snow instantly turns me into a kid. Don't get it in Houston often and never like that. Gotta take a trip someday to go snow skiing!

Douglas Brown. I live in southern New Jersey. I used to love snow when I was ten years old. Fifty two years on I have to say I hate the stuff. Driving in it can be... terrifying sometimes. Today we had about 2 inches. It's now raining , it's 7:54 pm EST. And the temp is around 30. The stuff is turning into ice. Dangerous to drive on.

Douglas Brown I grew up in Brenham, Texas and rarely saw snow either...moved to Seattle in 1993 then to northern Idaho in 2015. The beauty of this place and the snow is absolutely gorgeous and I will never tire of it.

I lived in New York and New Jersey until we moved to Florida when I was eight. All my new classmates were excited at the thought that I had seen snow. "That must have been fun," they said. "It is," I said. "For about half an hour, forty-five minutes tops. After that it's cold and wet and gets inside your clothes and melts and makes your feet hurt." Snow is best seen through glass. To my friends who've never experienced it, I suggest they defrost their freezers bare handed. Snow is loved by artists and farmers who don't have cows, and people who don't have to live with it.

I lived up in the mountains of upstate NY for 4 years when I was a kid in the 80s and always enjoyed the snow! We'd play in it (sometimes 5-6 foot snowdrifts) for hours, yes, 2-5+ hours at a time. Guess it depends in the individual. Not everyone has the same preferences. Some hate it after 5 minutes, some don't hate it after 5 hours! :)

larry philby nah, you sound like a grumpy old man. Snow is so fun to play in and as someone who lives in Houston now, it’s much more enjoyable to get outdoor exercise in.

Very cool to watch this experience, thanks for sharing it. Just a tip though in case no one told you, it's really dangerous to start snowballs rolling down the side of a mountain like that. It can easily start an avalanche and if there are hikers or rangers or animals a few hundred feet below you...well, just not safe. Anyway, was fun to enjoy your first snow along with you, you guys seem like great people.

I've always wondered what it is like to not have ever seen snow and what it is like to see snow for the first time. In the Boston area we have snow pretty much every year and its gotten to 2.82 meters before, or 111 inches. It seems even higher after you shovel it, and I piled up a snowhill about 4.5 meters tall. Fun times :) EDIT I hear in Sierra Nevada they've gotten 11.5 meters of snowfall before, imagine that :o. Like a giant freezing pool, put on a fullbody suit and swim.

Love your blogs and vlogs guys :). I've shown them to my boyfriend and talked to him about the things you said in your blogs about travelling while you're young, and we've agreed to put other saving goals on the backburner and save up to go to New Zealand and then Canada! It'll take us a long time to save up though coz we're poor :P but thankyou for reminding me of why I travelled when I was 18 and motivating me to start again :)

Steph Davenport thanks so much Steph, it really makes our day every time we hear someone that is inspired to get out there and travel. There is so much to see and so much to learn from the world. You don't necessarily have to go international to travel, we started in our own backyard and then moved our way up as we saved for bigger and better trips. Best of luck and keep us informed on how it all goes :0

after watching your new videos I started watching your old ones. Jess, you were crazy, really! And that's amazing! I love the end of this video. Actually, it was a bit scary, haha. Now your videos are more professional with better quality but old ones have more... I don't know... more soul, like we say in Russian. They're natural. I will miss your such way of vlogging when I start watching your more professional videos.

I live in Ohio, USA, about 7 km south of Lake Erie... I also have many facebook friends from the Philippines. Whenever I post a photo of the snow outside my window, those friends speak up "Oh! I want to come and see snow!" I laugh to myself before I explain to these friends that I will have to dress them properly first. (Hat, coat, boots and gloves, etc.) "Why I wear gloves?" one of my darling friends asked me so innocently. I thought about it for a moment before I suggested that she should open her refrigerator and set her hand on her ice cube tray --and leave it there for 10 minutes! "Ouch!" she replied. I quickly responded "That is exactly why I put gloves on your little hands!" :-D

Will you guys be headed to the east coast of the US? Because depending what time of year it could be even snowier than that!! I never knew people thought snow was just a Canadian thing! =) can't wait to see where you're headed next.

Julie Rusin we may go to the east coast yes :) haha we didn't mean for the snow comment to come across like that - it's more-so that we were in Seattle (close to the Canada) so thats why we said we thought we were in Canada.

In order to have a flat level surface on a ball, how big would it need to be? To find level you need a curve. Up is simply up and down will never be up. The earth is stretched out.
