Synopsis:
SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD stars Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carell and Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley and is the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Lorene Scafaria. Set in a too-near future, the movie explores what people will do when humanity's last days are at hand. As the respective journeys of Dodge (Mr. Carell) and Penny (Ms. Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks - if not the world's - brighten.

This trailer does not do this amazing movie justice. It is still one of the hidden gems since it's released. The movie is filled with heart, dark humor, sincerity, poignant, romance and the fact that there is usually never enough time.

This movie is so brilliant. The first half of it was so funny that I thought "dear lord it is the funniest movie I've ever seen" and than the second half of it got me just like, gosh why?! But than it is such a great point in the whole movie and the ending is precious. I mean it is one of the best movies ever, at least for me. Ofc Keira was fantastic as always , she is my favourite actresses 😍😍

At some point, at some level, you either "see" or you don't. As Jesus made abundantly clear, brains or education or experience or wealth or power don't necessarily offer that insight and discernent, even as the Holy Spirit does. Or as Huey Lewis once sang: "The power of love is a curious thing, make a one man weep, make another man sing. Change a hawk to a little white dove, more than a feeling, that's the power of love. Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream, stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream. Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right, power of love will keep you home at night. You don't need money, don't take fame, don't need no credit card to ride this train. It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life". Of course, in the context of the above film having one's life "saved" is a relative term ... but then that has been the same since Jesus made his great sacrifice of devotion for us.

Elsewhere we can find the final scene on KZfaq - perhaps even unfair to present it without the wider context of the movie. There are no comments allowed there. The scene is tremendous, courageous, demanding, sad, beautiful, joyous, underplayed and so very right. They are a couple wrong and meaningless in any other circumstance ... except the one the film portrays. Hence the title. Crazy that the pastiche "Don't look up" came to a sort of similar conclusion (well, near-conclusion, to be exact). But Seeking a Friend is 10 years old, and it seems even more relevant now...
