Our European road trip continues! Myself, Paul Wallace from ‪@supercarsoflondon‬ and Tony from Gravelwood Car Sales are on our way to Monaco in a Jaguar F-Type R, a Porsche 718 GT4 and a Nissan GT-R. Sam, I’ve been watching you for years and this by far is the most beautifully shot video I can remember. The camera quality is simply stunning, plus the multitude of camera angles really add to the story telling. It’s an excellent combination of story telling, travel and car review/specification.

I love this road trip and thank you for making such enjoyable content. I’d pick the F-Type R, all day long, for the very same reasons you remembered why it is so great: It is an incredible GT with all the theatrics of that beautiful AJ V-8 and mellifluous exhaust note bouncing off the tunnels! Really nicely done on the editing. Looking forward to the Monaco installment!

Idk what tires Paul has on that Nissan but the best "cure" I've ever found for poor steering feel is wider, stickier front rubber.

Was gonna say - the GTR is the only one of the three with hydraulic power steering and it's usually well regarded vs a lot of newer electric only stuff. Wonder what tyres are on it...

@@supraJZA80s I've yet to encounter that. You may tramline more on poorly maintained roads but it should never decrease feedback through the wheel.

@@SharpTurnStudios if you put a larger tire on the same size wheel it can result in more sidewall flex.

@@supraJZA80s not if the tire is larger only in contact area? Going from a 255/40/19 to a 275/35/19 or even 305/30/19 will significantly improve perceived feedback without increasing sidewall significantly. Drive a base model Mustang GT then drive a PP2 and see what I mean.

These European road trips are what makes the channel so great. I'd have the Jag as it has the best combination of comfort and capability. BTW, the Litchfield stage 1 is 590hp, so that was a good guess!

Great video Sam. Fantastic Scenery & Roads plus the banter between the three of you is really entertaining😂. I'd take the F Type. But for me it would be the Coupe version as the lines on the F Type Coupe are very elegant. Enjoy Monaco fella and catch you on the next STG video. 😎👍

Damn 3 years ago I drove these exact roads in my f type and stopped in that little town too. You even stopped in the same place I did when you said you have to take a picture as I did to take a pic. Glad you're all enjoying it I'm jel. And I still miss my damn f type 3 years on.

I'd take the GT4 just because of the two boots and space behind the seats. Although the convertible would be perfect for trips like this. Nice vlog. Keep up the good work.

Sam, you’re being hard on you and the Jaguar. It will feel heavy and numb trying to keep up with the cayman - if you were in project 7, it’d be different story - but it’d be different story doing your own thing…. How wonderful to follow your trip like this, so very special to enjoy it with you three! Thanks for bringing us along for the ride, been loving it! I’d pick the jag you took - does the cruising well, it’ll be more than good enough on the twisted (on a long trip like that, I’d not be bothered about nailing every apex, laying rubber etc - more about just being at one with yourself).

I would definitely take the F-Type. Luxury, comfort, great views and have enough speed. For a road trip you don't need to be the fastest.

Great video Sam! Out of the 3, I would take the F Type. If there was a Boxter 718 GTS 4.0, I think that would be my pick. The ultimate car for this trip for me would be a Vanquish S Volante.

The F Type because it’s a convertible. I’ve done four Alps trips in my MX5 and for me you can’t beat an open top car when driving through such scenery. I’d recommend a Dolomites tour for some great driving roads, particularly the Sella Ronda.

F Type is by far the most special car there in my view … and Sam I think you know that deep down you really want an original, non OPF, rear wheel drive again… this is the essence of the F Type and what made it so amazing.

718 Spyder with stick shift would be the right choice! Suspension, tyres, brakes and NA engine is by far the best combination and even size for luggage is fantastic. If you want a softer GT you should go for a 991 Turbo at the same price

Paul seems really fed up of the GTR but it has me wondering what kind of state it's in. What are the tyres like and what brake pads are on it? Has the power steering fluid been changed in the past few years? Lots of little details can add up to a poor experience if a car isn't maintained and the perception that it's just "old" when in fact it just requires a little TLC. The other cars by comparison are brand new so you would expect them to perform...

You can get AMG GTR for under 100k and R8 for around 80k. No brainer

Was thinking that!!!!! Can get a very tidy r8 for this budget and 911 gts or turbo as well. They would be far more desirable than any of these motors

Great video. The three of you together are great value. Sam - buy a GT4. I took out a jag F type R (new one) 2 weeks ago. Noise has been neutered (relatively speaking) and steering is not a patch on a Porsche. I’ve just bought a GT4 PDK in crayon……….you know it makes sense……

You always do a great job - others I watch go up and down with interesting content and conversation but you are always good. You video is always good as well. As far as the cars….. in LA the F-type is a house moms car, but I still enjoy the content. The Porsche is the most interesting.

I love your Jaguar loan car and I think I’d spec it the same way But for that trip and practicality I think the hatchback version with it’s incredibly practical boot that can take multiple sets of golf clubs etc for me would win hands down out of the three cars 🚗👍🏻

yeah Paul is not a person who knows how to explain himself and speak about something in a lot of knowledge, so maybe he would like to say reliability of the car as a negative, the car battery should last at least 5 years, not a year in everyday normal driving like, he said he is using it daily. So that a negative.

With each jump start, a battery loses up to 25% of its life expectancy. So after the 3rd jump in quick succession, it's essentially junk.

The F type would be the one for me (but a coupe) . What it lacks in all out performance it gains in driving sensations. It comes together on the right road and just makes you smile. It’s party trick is when you just want a comfortable long distance cruise.

They are all lovely cars and tbh I would be happy with any of them. Got to say the interior of your F-Type is delicious.Sam my only question is what is the best sports/GT car then for this type of trip being sensible with the money? Set your budget at say £140k what would you choose that does speed, handling, comfort and practicality?

Chambéry is pronounced like this : cham = like shan't without the t ; and béry like berry ! Simple as that :) I think you already have planned the journey home, but I suggest you pass through the Vallée de la Loue, in the département du Doubs, as we say in French. The roads are quite nice and the views are absolutely gorgeous!

For that trip, the F Type over the other two. It's a luxury GT convertible. What could be better? Answer, the new Boxster GTS 4.0 with a stick shift. Top down, light and all that Porsche 718 driver car plus convertible. Beautiful scenery BTW.

I'm sure I speak for a few - we'd all like to know the names/designations of the roads you've been on. Personally I know the 'Red Rock Road' and Route Napoleon (a bit) but where else you been and where you going (please mention in description of forthcoming videos?). Thanks 👍🏻
