The hand applied lume of the SBDX001 was part of its charm. It was an excellent watch at its price years ago. Seiko invented lume and the new formula of LumiBrite like on the SLA017 is the brightest lume I have ever seen on any watch.

The Tuna is "Pad" tranfer printed with silver underlayer that is why the hands of Tuna can turn patina faster compare indexes. The SBDX001 MM is applied and the uneven caused by the condensation of glue mixture on the lume (grained). Rolex get their superluminova from Seiko manufacture. seiko change their quality of lume after the last batch of Seiko SBDX012/SBDX 017. That is why the last version of Seiko SKX (2018) is worth collecting due to Patina possibility, all new Turtle series having a new version of lume wont change to Patina.

I have the Seiko SLA039 and it has very uneven LUME. Disappointing for a $5000 watch. Otherwise the watch is perfect.
