Very nice, love how solar divers with sapphire are becoming a bit more of a regular thing. I love my Citizen BN0150, probably my favourite watch. The only small downside is the mineral crystal. So these new options are awesome. 💪

I bought this model and love it! A fantastic Seiko diver

Thanks for taking a look at this one. I'm a very tall guy with a slightly bigger wrist than you. A 38mm diver (referring to Seiko's 38mm solar diver) doesn't really look ideal on me, but this is a really nice size. I usually wear my King Turtle when I walk my dogs several miles in the morning. I often wind it the night before to make sure it's still going, and then I likely will wear some other watch the rest of the day. Keeping it wound and also finding that it's lost several minutes (it's losing about 20 seconds per day) is annoying. I've been late to early meetings because of that. I am thinking about a grab and go solar, because I have quartz watches I don't wear frequently and have dead batteries now. They've been waiting for me to change the batteries for months. As I've worn more mechanicals the past 4 years, I just get annoyed at having to change batteries out. This line and the Seiko Arnie line have gotten most of my attention.

I was looking for a good 'daily basher' watch that I don't need to be too concerned about, and after seeing this I went out and grabbed one of these. Not a huge fan of the bracelet, so I got a dark blue nato band with a red stripe on it (which matches the crown). The lume is bonkers bright, and with the nylon rather than the bracelet, it's a fantastic daily - light, water safe and very durable. Also, the rotating dial aligns perfectly and the second hand aligns perfectly to the markers, which is something a few reviews had said might be off (guess I got lucky). Love it.

Thanks for review. I get use to have my quartz (Eco Drive) watch from Citizen and automatic from Seiko, but recently we see some interesting models from both watchmakers.

Great review 👍, just received mine today and absolutely love it. It’s so nice to wear something so slim, lightweight and comfortable again. 7.5 inch wrist here and it fits perfect. My only criticism, and it is only a slight one is that the bracelet does feel a bit cheap. But it is something I can live with as everything else is perfect, chapter ring & bezel alignment are spot on 👌 Not to mention this is about as accurate as they come, my automatic phase could well be over?

Loved the SNE569 and this one looks good too. Trying to decide between this one and the blue Seiko GMT that was recently released.

I hope they do this colour way (Pepsi bezel/black dial/red second hand) in the 38.5mm variants. Looks so good. Just too big for me at 42.8mm. The smaller versions just work better for my 6.5” wrist.

I'm a fan of a black dial Pepsi especially with a black rubber strap. The Citizen BN0168 is a Pepsi Blue dial - too much blue. I'm keeping my eye on this one - very nice!

Purchased two of these, the blue face with red stripe winder and this one that is coming today, mainly for local swimming rather than wearing Rolly Sub, they fit perfect and are more accurate.

Great review, as always, Rob. I’m due for another Seiko Solar. I’m over the ‘auto only’ phase. Can’t decide between this series, and the SNE585 series. I have as similar wrist size as you. I like both. I’ll likely buy a rubber strapped version. Which do you consider the better buy, as they’re a similar price. Thanks for your recommendation.

I bought mine in japan...its a great watch

I got the SNE589P1 in the mail today (black dial and bezel). Definitely wears like almost 43mm. Really wears bigger than the classic SKX/5KX-case of 42mm. Also, the bezel on my watch did not align; the usual half a click off. That's just my experience and opinion.

The negatives Bezel is stiff Seconds hands on mine does not line up The date window is small and the window itself is too deep due to the solar dial Bracelet is trash

Nice daily wearer. For me, SBED003 and SBED007. Solar, quartz, gps. Always perfect time, never needs setting.

Rob you're reveiws are of some interest,however,every time I Try to buy a watch you've reveiwed at at an affordable vendor they are out of stock! It's begining to be a waste of time! The watches are Nice, but unobtainable!

Look at the length of hands on this watch sne591/sne589 with sapphire and models sne435/sne549 below it using mineral glass. Notice how the hand bodies (not the syringes) on the "budget" models are quite short and do not cover the markers. Second hand only halfway reaches across the indices. The sne591 minute and second hands reach out the to chapter ring. Seiko purposely sabotages lower models to make you buy up. The money I pay is not defective, and I expect the watch I receive to be the best that can be built given cost constraints. I don't appreciate Seiko's game of intentionally crapifying lower models. I will not buy Seiko.

Another sapphire crystal without AR. Glare makes the watch unusable. I would rather have mineral crystal for less cost. Seiko always does something to sabotage their watches so you are forced to buy top of line.

Hollow endlinks and a pressed clasp on a 500+ MSRP solar watch. What a complete joke. Citizen offers way better diver's watches with the same tech and way better specs at around 200. IMO one has to be crazy to buy these solar Seikos.

The red line has a purpose it's not there for decoration!
