Review and history of the very unique Seiko VFA quartz 3923 watch. No matter how little you may respect contemporary quartz watches, this one represented bleeding edge technology when it first came out in the early ‘70s in Japan.

Those are really cool. Everyone wants a "smart" watch now. I think vintage Quartz is gonna be way more appreciated soon by collectors.

Saw this today in Chinatown NYC and bought it! Brown dial with the bracelet. It's just such a cool design.

They’ve aged so well. Out of curiosity, is the led still blinking? I haven’t looked at watches on Canal st in ages.

Yeah, it's blinking faintly. It was my first time at the stores there and my first pre-owned watch purchase.

Hopefully, the batteries should be able to last a year, at least.

Absolutely gorgeous, I love seeing the watches you pull out in your videos, your name of interesting watches is the perfect description of what you do.

Very beautiful watch and I own one with the different dial, the one with raised around hour indexes. And I think this is the only Seiko quartz watch using electromagnetic escapement, not the other with stepper motor.

I never realized that the “quartz” is on the crystal rather than the dial. How neat! I always wanted one of these due to the blinking light. Gimmicky maybe but I think it’s cool. Sad to hear they only blink for so short a time though. Ever think of doing a SOTC video?

Thanks for your comments! The light is oddly distracting at first. You do get used to it. As far as a sotc, I prefer to make individual videos, that way I can can cover the details and history.

Really cool watches. Shame the sound is so quiet. Will subscribe

OMG imagine if they were still available?? I'd ORDER one!!!!!!! (Or 2!!!!)

The funny thing is that there would be almost no market for a modern version of it. High end quartz is just not very popular.

@@InterestingWatches They wouldn't have to put a high-end movement into it, these days cheaper movements like in the MVMT watches are very accurate these days. That way they could price it reasonably...

AKA the Very F****ing Accurate range.

It is very accurate. I still want to get a 5/sec per month movement as well.
