This is a video compilation of behind the scenes footage taken from NBC's Seinfeld set. Includes a variety of raw footage, bloopers, a cast introduction, and an inside look as to how this show was filmed. Thank God this show was filmed in Panavision. It looks so FLAT in video! BTW, THESE CLIPS DID NOT ORIGINATE FROM THE DVD'S !!!!!!

I could watch hours of this on-set stuff. You get so immersed in the show and the characters, you forget they were actors on sets with full film crews all around them, not to mention a live audience. So envious of the ones that got to see episodes being shot. Television history.

+alex kanyima The soundstage is actually quite large. Seinfeld shot on Stage 9 which is 200 feet by 110 feet. It's the sets that can be small. Seinfeld used a lot of sets in each episodes.

Maiq TheLiar So true. It is a JOB. And although you are a 'technician' or an 'artist' or a 'creative' - you still have crazy deadlines to meet - and people get upset when Kramer gets pissed off on bloopers. How'd you like to stay after work for hours just because you get the giggles? The unions love the giggles. The film companies (and some actors) don't.

I never get tired watching Seinfeld, I can watch the reruns with my granddaughter everyday I never laughed so hard, just love the cast so well picked.

when I first moved to LA in 96 some guy with a clipboard offered me free tickets to a taping of Seinfeld. I thought it was a scam so I said no...damn I regret that one!!

stingray1964 I did a few shows as a temp when I came out here, around the same time. Roseanne had a talk show, Bill Cosby was doing Kids say the. Darnedest Things, and the was this mock talk show called Night Stand. I saw Eartha Kitt flying around the studio with Roseanne.

They basically only had two different directors during the entire run of the show, and they picked the kind of people they wanted to work with. In particular, everybody really enjoyed working with the second director: Andy Ackerman.

I agree. This is the only thing on KZfaq I have found that shows footage of the series being filmed. There are many videos on YT that have been ripped from the show's DVD extras featuring people talking about the making of the show (Inside Looks, bloopers, etc), but this video is a gem in that it's like being a fly on the wall at NBC when the show was being made. It's just a taste, and I'm not sure who shot this or for what purpose (the zooming in on actors is a little odd to me), but I wish there had been more of this.

@muchohumptyhump It's "New York Street" on the backlot of CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA. Seinfeld filmed on Stage 9, two stages over from New York Street.

This must have been from the early years of the show. They used the larger Panavision cameras the first year or two and then switched to the smaller Panaflex cameras.

It's a backlot. Two reasons: There are no cars in it, and the end of the building is clearly just a painting, only they don't show the end that often.

If anyone ever believed that the Seinfeld show's "New York Street" was an actual location (and in NYC), I'd like to sell them some magic beans. The studio used this area of the backlot many times during the nine seasons, sometimes dressing it like winter time if the script required it.

This is very cool stuff, getting the BTS view, and makes one realize how hard it is to produce a TV show, much less a good one. Reminds me why I never became an actor. Well, that and having a face for radio. And no acting ability.

You'd watched my video at one time, silly, AS WELL as this 'HD in better FPS' clip as you describe (not my post) - was probably ripped from the DVD. THIS clip was sourced from an old NTSC NBC feed - if you know what that is. So because that was taken down, "IT'S GONE!!!" "IT BURNED!!!!"...."Oh, My!"

What do you have to do to become the CLACK guy? That seems like a pretty good job. You come in for a few scenes every day, you clack, you go home. No lines, no pressure, nobody telling you that you didn't quite nail the clack, you see show biz as it happens. I think it sounds like a hell of a gig. Do you get one of those funny show biz titles like "gaffer" or "best boy"? Because that would really seal the deal right there.

You would have to become a Second Camera Assistant, or a 2ND AC. They’re also responsible for keeping track of camera equipment and film/memory, and marking actors for the 1ST AC to pull focus on. To become one you’d have to land a job as a Production Assistant (intern) for a few months/years and eventually impress a higher-up who might offer you a position as a 2ND AC.

Jerry is usually spot on with his material but a couple of times I called foul on him, the Golf ball bit about hitting people's heads was weak, I forget what episode it was and no it wasn't the Marine Biologist, some other episode, I think he was talking about ppl throwing rocks into the crowd too, and the same with this thing about not eating canned fruit, that's weak, in actuality, I can picture Jerry saying "why NOT to eat canned fruit?!, it's there! it's just as good, maybe not as fresh but still good, and for a whole can you get it all sliced up already! and half the price!" but this particular video is great, this stuff is easily consumed, i slurp it down like a wet noodle

NO. They are using the famous "New York Street" in the backlot at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA - where "Central Park" is too. It's all about the camera angles and set dressing. Do a Google Maps aerial...

grometmate no. Seinfeld used a combination of Studio Audience and Laugh Track. They only had a studio audience for Jerry's Apartment and The Cafe since those were the two main sets. This all started with the episode the The Parking Garage

If you put some funny bits in you could loosely call it a weak comedy. God it is pathetic the tv equivalent of Kiss, all wrapping and no content. Keep it in America.
