3:05 I think the joke there with the director's chair looking pompous is that the director, Larry David, probably sits in one when he's directing the show. Such a damn clever joke.

"I supposed if they gave me one, I'd sit down" LMFAO dude is so passive but straight forward. A stool would be best. Quick stand-up and ease from pressure on feet which would make him more flight of foot.

I am actually a security guard who has fallen asleep on the job via sitting on a chair. Keep in mind though, that I started at 6am after finishing another shift at 3am, so fatigue was definitely a factor. Not only that, but it was at a library, where armed robberies are not too frequent

I do think he is on to something. As a cashier that has to do 7, 8 hour shifts, I hate it when we aren't allowed to sit down as apparently "it makes us look lazy". Screw that, I'd rather look lazy and have my legs and back in one piece than stand for 7-8 hours with very little breaks in between(we get 2 15 min breaks, 3 of which is heading to the break room, 3 heading back, so really 9 minutes sitting down each break. I'm not saying let us sit for 7-8 hours, but rather in between customers when there is no one around and all our other work is done.
@SapientSpaceApe
@SapientSpaceApe 9 жыл бұрын
My old manager told me that she makes the cashiers stand because people tend to scan and bag the items a little slower when they're sitting down. I guess it must add up over the course of an eight hour shift. Still though, standing for eight hours does suck.
@ivenstorm
@ivenstorm 9 жыл бұрын
***** thats bs. In Europe they sit down and you bag your own stuff. Only in North America have we gotten so lazy that we can't pack our own groceries, while forcing people to stand for 8 hours lifting and bagging.

ivenstorm True. I live in Europe (Ireland to be specific) and check-out workers typically sit down in large retail chains like Tesco and SuperValu. It's only in the smaller stores that they're made to stand.

Sissy Brooks Mothers a nurse, I don't envy what she goes through, though she gets more chances to sit down than I do as a cashier. She also gets the opportunity to walk around, which trust me helps a ton more than standing in one spot.

George is, uncharacteristically, the most compassionate of the group in this one. Yes, studies have shown that most people do their jobs better while standing up versus sitting down, and yes, security guards should always be on alert, but as someone who has spent 9 years of their life working in jobs that require standing up, I'd really like to walk into a restaurant or bar and see employees sitting down. Then again, I'm also the kind of person who cleans my own table before leaving a restaurant in order to make the wait-staff's jobs easier and I also tend to tip around 35%(despite being near-poverty myself), so maybe I'm just weird and/or and/or generous.

+Dakota Smith Please tell me how the hell a bartender in a busy bar would be able to do their job sitting down. Not trying to be a hardass, but it really wouldn't be practical. The important thing is to have thick rubber mats, those make a big difference.

I use to be a guard dog for Gucci and I can confirm that you had to stand for 8hrs, sometimes 12. Fortunately I worked at the flagship Gucci so I had a partner and we would rotate doing small patrols to at least stretch our legs. We would use the elevator to squat for 9 seconds.

i thought he was just to slow to get up on time. but when i saw him flat out sleeping thru the robbery LOL many things that look odd at first glance do have a reason. but i agree that this is unimaginable standing 8 hours at one point. I would go nuts within 20 minutes... no kidding. If i could walk in circles, problem solved :-)
