Hi, I’m 30 years old and just applied for naturalization. I’ll be 31 in 2 months (possible before my interview). Am I facing any chance of denial since I’ve never applied for selective service? Or because they’ll interview me when I’m 31, I should be fine?

Hello, If you are a man who was living in the USA between the ages of 18 and 26, you were required to register for selective service before your 26th birthday. However, many applicants for naturalization did not know about this requirement, and didn’t register in time, but they’re still approved. In our experience, failure to register for selective service is not a barrier to approval if you can demonstrate that you are willing to serve the country however you can, and if you can explain the reason you did not register before you aged out.
