What I find puzzling is she is worth $95m and then says “I hate this I want to do philanthropy” she has the opportunity to retire from the music and film industry and do just that if it makes her happy- so why doesn’t she do that?

When she was mad at the interviewer I lost it. The interviewer isn’t her therapist. She doesn’t need to understand. It’s her job asking questions and then do her freakin job like her job is answering questions. Selena literally completely lost herself idk she changed so much in a negative way. Like i grow up with her when she was younger in the Disney time. I know people change when they get older but like she was so full of sunshine back then. It’s really sad.

THAT is exactly why they were attracted to each other. They had something in common. It may have been that they were trying to "fix" each other. It is easer than fixing yourself. It may have not even been then at all. Well not at first. I mean, she is older than him and waaaay more experienced. She had both her parents w/ her all the time backing her up while Justin's mom left him drift and even go live with off age/adult selena gomez, while he himself was still just a teen, a child for gods sake. Out of them both, the only one who ever spoke and only said ill sht about the other has always been selena while Justin's remain silent and IF he spoke about her, he never degraded, bullied or insulted her the way she and all her fam and friends have done foe the past 10yrs. She was no child when she got together w/ Justin, in fact she was disrespectful towards him countless times prior they dated. Ant let's not forget about the multiple times she was caught abusing Justin and the testimony of their old service people who all agree about how selena screamed at him and even escalated the fights to physical assaults. She knew what she was doing: world hates Justin more than they hate abuse and holding toxic people accountable for their actions, so she has a free pass to abuse him since the beginning and even today, she continues being a bullying Justin

I feel like, she’s actually very self centered and desires a LEVEL of validation and honestly I feel like she’s acting 100% of the time, like she puts on a façade of kindness. This documentary made her come off very ungrateful, self centered and attention seeking. also she dated Justin for less than 2 years before getting back together in 2018 for like 3 weeks and everything in her life seems to revolving around that. We’re acting like she wasn’t dating a minor? ( I know he’s 2 years younger than her but if roles were reversed, her toxic fan base would say she was groomed) Also expecting maturity from a 16 year old KID was dumb. This documentary also shows how toxic she is. Just watching it I felt exhausted, can’t imagine being her friend or partner. I wish she would touch on topics as such. Gratitude?! Selena has always been emphasizing how much she is grateful for Disney and the life it gave her. This does not change the fact that Disney is like a huge machine that is supposed to do one thing - make money. People who work for such a huge company sometimes feel like objects, and this is a fact. I think a spoiled brat is someone like you - criticising someone who nearly died, struggled with serious mental diaorder and went through a breakup, all of these in fron of the whole world. She has always been the mean girl. Even when she played a role like Alex Russo on Disney. Never liked her and thought there was something dark & sinister about her. Especially how she portrays herself as kind. 🙄 It's all fake and all an act to me. All she does is uses her fans to bully her ex who clearly moved on and is now married. Lost her old true best friend ( Demi Lovato ) who treated her like a sister and ditched her for Taylor all because she's popular. Disrespected the girl who donated her kidney that she herself is ungrateful for. Cries Infront of the media of how much her ex did her wrong when she used The Weekend and broke his heart just to immediately go back to Justin which shows he doesn't even like her or is thinking about her from the very least. Never takes full responsibility for her actions nor health. 30 years old still acting like a teenage brat who hasn't developed yet. Yet advocates for kindness??? She shaded Justin Bieber throughout her whole career and used his name just to gain sympathy to stay relevant. She's not an interesting artist but God awfully annoying af! And complains of how much she's so sad with her life because how Justin did her wrong. What she needs to do is go away and take her bitter self far away as possible and disappear for a few years where she needs psychological help!

Thanks for mentioning it was a French interviewer, whose English is not her first language. She didn’t catch Selena’s facetious sarcastic passive aggressive comments about “really understanding” her future philanthropic endeavours. Clearly Selena’s edginess is more towards childhood trauma and not feeling heard or understood for decades on Disney but At least she even asked her about her future plans outside of entertainment. Sometimes it’s hard to watch knowing these celebs w all the resources in the WORLD to get healthier and to use their platform for good…. That don’t out of fear.. But was looking forward to watch her doc hoping to understand her better and thought she would really GO there and explain her past for her story to be told properly. She wasn’t ready and that’s fair but unfortunate. Just seems like her and her team really fear her to be seen in a negative light by glossing over the darkness just to be seen in a positive light by avoiding telling her true story. For example, Demi went there in regards to her past in a way that could be perceived as negative or bad for PR. I wish Selena and everyone else battling issues that are invisible illnesses the best. especially the ones without the money or platform to make a true difference that would if they could.

Surrounding herself with enablers, can’t control her rages, see it beneath her to do interviews/promotions because her art and talent speak for itself, hiding her mean behaviour behind her health issues and other victimhood excuses. She dumped her friend because she doesn’t want to be constantly grateful, as a narcissist she probably think her friend should feel honoured to give her kidney to Selena. And this whole fake philanthropy image she embraced has a name - a communal narcissist.

Many people who struggle with mental illnesses like myself know that there isn’t always a clear why to why you are upset, sometimes you just wake up crippled with depression and there is no context other than that’s the way you woke up. Also as for people saying she should be grateful and doesn’t have enough to be sad about. Depression doesn’t care who you are or how good your life is. It will make you feel like things are so dark even when it’s far from true. Also mental and physical health are so connected. Having chronic heath issues which I can also relate to having myself, I know that it takes a huge toll on your mental state.

This documentary had so much potential to really show mental health difficulties and the person suffering, but they left out so many details that were needed to really showcase Selena and her story. There's no point in wanting to show the truth if you only show half of it, they shouldn't have cut out so much of the footage and just given the raw details. Selena has been going on about her difficulties for so long and gave the impression that the documentary was going to elaborate on those difficulties, but they were barely there.

BPD comes from childhood trauma not break ups
@suiiuu
@suiiuu 2 ай бұрын
@xragdoll5662 First of all, nowhere did I say a break up CAUSED her bpd, I said it TRIGGERED it. It's a known fact fear of abandonment is a huge trigger for bpd. Second, childhood trauma is nowhere near the only cause of BPD, it is one of them, but claiming it is caused only by this is false. Look it up yourself, many things can cause bpd, some of which (and not limited to): being a victim of emotional, physical or sexual abuse, being exposed to long-term fear or distress as a child, being neglected by 1 or both parents, growing up with another family member who had a serious mental health condition, such as bipolar disorder or a drink or drug misuse problem, genetically inherited if a parent or sibling has it and the NHS specifically states, I quote "There's no single cause of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and it's likely to be caused by a combination of factors." The NIH states, I quote "In some cases, a person who earlier did not have a diagnosable personality disorder, may develop one later in life. Sometimes, emergence of personality disorder in older adults may be related to the loss of social supports that had previously helped to compensate for personality disturbance" So, in final, do you know Selena that well that you can certainly claim she experienced absolutely no trauma in her childhood or life for her to certainly not have BPD? And did you know that there is this thing called comorbid diagnosis where a rare percentage of patients have bipolar and BPD simultaneously?

Selena uses only comments, which we translate as "victim needs support". She doesn't use physical violence. She use backhanded compliment, victim mentality posts to gain sympathy. Heck, I even doubt she has lupus. I even figure if she passing by this comment, she Will probably posting this on her social media and said "It's okay. I Will not let things things let me down", which subconsciously send message to her fans that someone is attack her, and send her fans to attack, then she Will come back with "Kindness, everyone". I'm tired of her always victimising herself and her fans also always victimising her. Her entire career thus far after Disney has revolved around her victimising herself through Justin Bieber, Lupus or mental health. She's not the only person in earth that goes through heartbreak or mental health, she actually has it way better than alot of people. There are alot of celebs with worse medical conditions than her but don't them dragging the life out of it like Selena did for years now. And if she's so tired of the being famous and not having privacy, she should just delete her socials and move away from the celeb life with time people will forget about you, alot of celebs have done it before. She's a 30 year old women, she should really throw that act away. Selena is a hyp*crite* and she's very calculated in everything she does. She did not admit to any drug use here - she was so used to the chaos about HARDCORE drug use. We know for FACT she was on meth and coke , xtc, and a lot of weed and booze and she also addicted Justin to all this. maybe that is what she feels like she is paying for> maybe that is the guilt? and remember, she has a addict personality base. They can dress it up as “lupus” and “mental health” but the reality is all her erratic behaviors and violent episodes Most likely stem from that. Of course a person who’s on drugs is gonna appear bipolar and manic, if she had never tried a substance in her life and is truly doing life 100% sober and still has those issues then that would classify as mental illness but I don’t think that is her case and until she fixes that problem she’ll never be truly free of her mind and be able to heal

I feel like it's been years of her saying she's moved on, but it doesn't feel like it... and of course her fans won't let go of this relationship when she always brings it back up. it also must be very frustrating for Justin and Hailey. @@ItisBerserk well to be totally fair, I didn’t watch the doc but based on this, I didn’t think they did a good job of it. That’s VERY possibly because I saw it edited to fit this review. But 1) the documentary should help everyone understand mental health struggles, especially those who don’t have them, because those who do already understand and those who don’t are those who view it with a stigma. So if only people who already understand the struggles of mental health are the only ones who “get” the documentary, then I feel it kinda falls flat. And 2) I would have to watch the documentary (I want to, but I don’t have Apple TV) to see how it reads, but I *have* struggle with mental health since high school. I’ve been diagnosed as bipolar and on bipolar meds for 8 years and gone to therapy for years and years as well. I have gone through mental health struggles basically my entire adult life. So please don’t assume my critique comes from a place of not having experienced this myself, quite the opposite. Learning that my mental health struggles can help me understand why I tend to behave a certain way but that I still need to take accountability AND that if I don’t like how my disorder makes me act then it’s my responsibility to focus on myself and getting better.

The difference between Selena & Meghan Markle is that Selena can feel guilt for her bad behavior & she genuinely has compassion for other people. She is an entitled position because she is the breadwinner in the family. She is the one that makes the money, so I don't know how her mom has any control over her and what she does? Her team is on her payroll, so they have to put up with her tantrums & meltdowns. I understand that being asked lame questions over & over again can be draining, this isn't the most difficult job in the world. There are far more worse conditions that people have to work under than getting dolled up, wear an expensive dress, look pretty & smile for the camera. She is living her dream, this is what she wanted to do & it's a privilege to have this because not everyone succeeds in making it big...there is stress & pressure in this industry...Yes! What job doesn't have this? I wish her well too, but when I look at someone like Natalie Portman, she is also a child star that grew up in front of the cameras and she has always lived a very private life. She is also an A list Hollywood star, but flies under the radar. There is no controversy with her & she has never had a substance abuse addiction. I think it's because of the lifestyle choices she made.

No but try putting yourself in her shoes, not from your perspective, what you see is the outside and not the deepth of how it is or how it must feel like. Being in that position while dealing with all of you’re own issues and problems but having to fake a smile and be perfect for the camras while everyone eyes are on you and whatever you do or say Will be judged must be hard. And expremely lonely because no one understands. Nobody can truely understand more than others in her position or similar situations, which the average person doesn’t deal with. She’s even said she never wanted to be famous, she loved acting and it was something she always wanted to do, but with that comes other things you might not always think trhough or understand at the age she started.

@@Max-ec2dj It's not that I can't understand that she is being judged & publicly scutinized. I have a hard time believing she never wanted to be famous because she is very attention-seeking. She has a tendency to overshare & put her business out there, and I get that it's good for publicity & business. She dates high-profile men & she hangs out with high-profile people all the time. There are successful celebrities like Jessica Alba who have been in the business a long time since she was a teenager, and they don't get caught being drunk on the red carpet or instigating feuds with ex-boyfriends on social media.

I think the problem Selena had with the interview was a little more complex. I don’t think her behavior was appropriate, but these are usually long press tours, not just one 2-3 minute interview. It’s usually hours of the same questions over and over again and it’s draining, so here this woman was asking different and good questions, but then she doesn’t actually engage with Selena. I get her being bummed and feeling cheap and let down. Still doesn’t excuse her behavior, but just wanted to point that out. If you want a good example, watch that Mika Kunis interview from years back with the nervous British guy. She is SO ENTHRALLED to have someone just engage with her and not ask the same questions, she’s starving for a real interaction.

She was always involved in editing everything she does to give the image that she seeks to reflect, which is more real than the one that Selena wants to give, which is victimizing herself. madonna on the other showed growth and basically the documentary is about her teachings in kabbalah and the tour, her father and her past and why she is the way she is today. but madonna has always felt real in her documentaries, remember that in 1990 alek was almost a novice and madonna had a great influence on the editing. basically it was a job of the 2. 👌🏼

The fact that I’m seeing more hate comments about how everyone thinks she’s being so dramatic or that she’s being arrogant is ridiculous. Not knowing what she’s going through and are only assuming the worst is mind bottling. That’s literally what this whole documentary is covering about, but still people are thinking she’s awful. If people were in her shoes, if they felt what she felt her whole life then it would be understandable and there’d be no criticism. The part where she got upset over the interviewer was cause she felt like she wasn’t being taken seriously for her honesty. Her anger should’ve been taken carefully, but you know we’re humans. We’re mental, we’re confused, we make a lot of mistakes in our life. We say things we don’t really mean. It’s part of life. All we can do is except it and own it. And that’s what she’s trying to do. She cares about the people she’s close to, she cares about her relationships and she’s still sincere to what they’re feeling and how she’s trying to be better at it. God, people need to look beyond her flaws and accept that she’s not perfect and that she’s just like the rest of us who are struggling to be heard, to move forward, and to be free and not feel so stuck in between with what everyone wants us to be that we don’t.

The breakup is the root of all of this it seems like. And it’s easy for her to use her diagnosis’ and kidney thing and all these things as manipulative tactic to gain pure sympathy from people.
