RARE Selena video, not seen in more than 20 years was found and digitized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. This footage of Selena on the program “Tejano USA” was found in a TV camera donated to the museum’s Spanish-language television project by Univision, the parent company of San Antonio’s KWEX-TV, Channel 41. The station’s production manager put an unlabeled ¾ inch tape in the camera to show what format that camera used.
When the museum digitized the video this summer, the Selena footage was discovered. The production manager, who actually directed the segment with Selena, tells the museum that after Selena passed away in 1995, he had looked everywhere for the video with no luck. The video resurfaced just as the museum planned to open a display on Hispanic Advertising that includes the Tejana artists’ work as a spokesperson for Coca-Cola.
The video was taken at Hemisfair Park, San Antonio Texas, April 1994 just before Selena performed at the “Texas Live” Music Festival sponsored by Coca Cola.

She was associated with Jehovah’s Witness (I don’t believe she got baptized before her passing) , she is aware of the scriptures and doesn’t believe in a heaven for the masses (jw’s believe heaven is for Jesus, Jehovah, his angels and the 144k anointed who will co rule) but in a paradise on earth. In some of her interviews they would ask her to wish a happy holiday/her zodiac sign (astrology) and she would respectfully respond ‘no’ or state she doesn’t read into that said topic.

This may sound silly but sometimes I like to close my eyes and imagine these videos of her are live and that she’s still here right now. It’s too sad to think about the fact that she’s gone. It truly saddens and angers me to this day that she isn’t here with us and got her life cut so short. Selena would have been a mega star and it hurts to know that she had that all taken away from her so innocently. There’s been lots of sad celebrity deaths but Selena’s hits harder than anyone else in my opinion. We all still miss you Selena!

When I look at Selena's life, I think about how much she accomplished at such young age. She got married, won a Grammy, acted, filled up stadiums, traveled the world, was loved by all....I hadn't even scraped the surface of all the things she's done at the age when she died. She was a beautiful soul who did not deserve to go so soon.

@nick Yanez: Tejano music is still going strong. J Balvin is one of the most successful latin singers right now & even he made a tejano song. Selena didn’t sing traditional tejano music. She sang all types of music & she mixed tejano with Cumbria, reggae, R&B, Pop, etc. She is bigger than Tejano.

AA BB bro it’s not . You don’t see tejano musicians in the Grammys anymore or or see it all over TV like in the 90s. My uncle Danny Yanez thought the same and my cousin frankly caballero thought the same. I remember Steve Jordan coming over to speak with dad and uncle Danny to talk music. I’m sure you know those names
