Thank you so much. I managed to make this ❤ as a newbie to shirring it was daunting to say the least. I did originally do X2 but was far to big. So went down to 1.75. I found the ruffle at the bottom a nightmare. The only thing I didn't do was the cap sleeve but definitely will on next make. I just wish I had an overlocker it would have been so much easier instead of coverstitching. All in all 3 new things. Shirring, gathers and sewing with Chiffon. I had so many compliments on the dress it's inspired me to make more. Your so swwwt and easy to follow. One question I have broidiere anglais for next one. Would you still layer 2 in the cap sleeves? Thank you ❤

Absolutely LOVELY!!! You did a great job with designing it, explaining the measurements, how to shir, and all the details. Loved watching you in your creative process. That's exactly the way I do things. We learned to make a mock pattern, but unless I spent a ton of money on a fabric, I just kind of go for it. I loved this tutorial! Being able to see the natural process of alterations and embellishment (like with the sleeves) was so nice. Reassuring that it's okay to make it up as you go and really make things your own. 💖

I absolutely love the dress and fabric print is stunning. I'm curious though as a newbie to sewing what's the best fabric to buy that's not ultra slippy but will still flow? The capped sleeves worked amazingly ❤

Suggestion?? I have a solid mustard colored tier sleeveless RTW dress (woven)....what would you suggest for adding sleeves??? I do not have the exact fabric (to match)....i love the dress...do not love sleeveless...

What size or kind needle did you use Diana or does it matter Can I use knit instead of woven I found this in my computer today where I saved it I’ve always wanted to learn this💜so will dive in

I’ve used knit and it works well as well! I would do 1.5 times the width instead of two and I don’t use a particular needle for it ♥️

love this! What type of woven fabric did you use? I am pretty new to sewing so I am still learning which types of fabrics are which LOL I've mainly sewed with knits so far :) beautiful dress and love your videos they help so much Thank You for all the hard work you do

Thank you!!! I also mostly sew with knits but I am trying to branch out!! This was a light woven that I received in a mystery bundle so I’m not 100% but it seems to me some sort of rayon challis maybe?

Hi Diana, I noticed that you ironed your fabric (8:42) on the cutting mat. Is that mat heat resistant? Also, was curious why you wounded the elastic thread by hand on the bobbin instead of using the sewing machine. Please explain.

Hi! I'm not Diana but when I shirred, using the sewing machine to wind your bobbin can cause the elastic thread to stretch too much and be too tight on the bobbin.

@@mereshroom It's definitely possible. That's why it may be a good idea to hand wind.

Hi!! I used a small ironing mat over my cutting mat it sits on top. I would not iron a whole ton on top of it but it was a quick thing so I did 😬 I actually just not super long ago found out that you can in fact use the machine to wind your bobbin. If you can reduce the speed all the way down. The reason why you usually do it by hand is that you don’t want to over stretch the elastic of it won’t work right BUT if you can reduce the speed, it works fantastic!! I’ll be doing a new video on this soon!
