Here’s an example of a self-taped audition, submitted by Backstage member Faith Clark Doebler. Casting director Daryl Eisenberg offers feedback and advice-including how to frame your self-tape for maximum effect.
A CD and managing partner at Eisenberg/Beans Casting, Eisenberg’s résumé includes work on Broadway, film festival darlings, hit TV series, and leading podcasts. She holds a BFA from Tisch School of the Arts/New York University and Playwrights Horizons Theater School. She is also a member of Casting Society of America.

Omg after watching her tape and hearing the feedback I completely see and agree with everything…. And when she showed up with her hair down I was like wow she is gorgeous and likeable. And you can tell she was taking all the information in…

@@b2sharp Harsh. :)) Most working actors are not household names. Not a bad thing. They can still walk around in public, and still enjoy their privacy.

You've gotta think smart. I thought humiliation rituals were done with. You've gotta think smart is not feedback. It's not constructive. It's belittling. We get it. You're "technical".

mirrors are your friend, make your all your facial expressions in the mirror get used to how that feels when you do it and once you memorise/know your faces it deff helps with the confidence peice.

She looks good. Could she walk up to the chair, from behind, and then sit down? That way, the casting director COULD get a better sense of the actress: They way she typically moves, as well as actual physical build? The kind of thing that would be immediately obvious, if one were waiting for her at a coffee shop, and she approached the table.
