Thanks mate. There's lots of opportunity in independent cafe's, just be aware you might have to go on a wait list as they rotate throughout the year in my experience. And I've sold more prints of Manchester in the last few months from one display in the local library foyer than I have in the last 3 years of having them on my website. Well worth a morning/afternoon walk around with a portfolio binder and some prints.

It goes back to the being seen thing, certainly with Ikea. They have buyers and publishers who look for the stuff at art buyers exhibitions, in publications, online etc. I've also read that a lot of their stuff comes via Getty now (with some licencing agreement that stiffs the photographer). But that shot that you'll probably know of the Brooklyn Bridge, they licensed that direct and apparently paid $40,000 for exclusive usage. From the stuff I've read though it's pretty cuthroat, if they find your website, they'll give you a 10 second glance at the front page, if it don't bite them, you'll never get a look again. Front page set-up is key to even get a click to the portfolio.
