World Industries, "the double dip, skateboarding will never be the same" Showcasing the first true double kick board ever. question tho? Does anybody know what board that is in the ad? It's definitely not a Mike Vallely barn yard.

The mosr memorable ad for me was I think a slimeballs, oj, or santa cruz one. Anyway, it was Grosso doing a nosestall (possibly to revert) on a board with no nose (late 80s.) I'll never forget it because we had never seen someone use their nose like that before, it blew my mind.

Great list here. The shorty’s ad campaign with Rosa was my favorite for all the wrong reasons but that Nike ad campaign was brilliant.

The Blind Dear George ad was in reaction to the Powell ad with Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, and Ray Barbee satirically representing small, skater-owned companies called Scum Skates, Bad Person, and I forget the other fake brand. That’s the one that pissed off Rocco.

Still remember the World ad that was a full page comic in Big Brother that told the story from the devil's point of view how he got kicked outta heaven. Also World with the I sold my soul and all I got was this lousy T-shirt ad where you send in $6.66 and a photo for soul verification.

What would be a good local skate shop for Edmonton ?
@ShredzShop8 ай бұрын
Edmonton has lots of great shops! Rumour, Ninetimes, Boardom, Local 124, Easy Rider, Source & more. Speaking of great skate ads, Rumour did a pretty funny little skit called "Back to the School Sale" that's a back to the future spoof. Check it on their IG.

There used to be a ton of great ones. Plush, Famous, FS, Ed’s, that have all disappeared. But Rumour and Easy Rider are still good along with the ones he listed above

Forget which bearing brand this was for, so maybe not the most effective ad ever, but it featured one spread with a pile of shit and a pile of gold, and the text: 'If you're smart enough to know the difference between this' and then on the following page: 'then you're smart enough to know the difference between this' with a bunch of no-name brand bearings and the ones advertised. For the rest, the whole cottage industry around 'pro skateboarding', the contests and media and what not that make skateboarding seem like this monumental endeavour, rather than a fun way to waste time with friends on a wooden toy, is probably the 'best' ad in terms of hooking potential customers.

Nike from what I remember, wasn’t a failure because of the inferior shoe design, it was because most skaters at that time had brand loyalty to skate companies not corporations. The quality of skate shoes in the late 90’s to mid 2000’s was excellent with a ton of variety.
