I made an F-Zero prototype with multiplayer in Unity. It was sad to see that Nintendo hasn't put out any new F-Zero games in nearly two decades. I had so much fun playing the games so I decided to try and recreate the racing physics myself!
At the moment, I have no plans for this project and I don't have time to develop both this game and Vibrant Venture. However, I would love to return to work on this again in the future when Vibrant Venture is finished - I have a ton of ideas for the project that would be a lot of fun to implement. Please let me know if this sounds interesting to you!

Also, neither F-zero X nor GX work like how I implemented the physics. How do they work I have no clue. Something about storing a machine's positions on nurb and translating in a different coordinate space and transforming that to the cartesian coordinate system (world space). This method allows you to translate your car over curved surfaces without suffering from tunnelling issues.

Nintendo treats F-zero like it treated metroid for years: they didnt exist. another funny thing is the fact that no real racing game devs wanna touch F-zero for some reason (nintendo proposed to criterion at one point, the guys behind burnout, and they declined), and it was stated multiple times by higher ups that they dont see how they could innovate on the gameplay of gx.
@CMSonYT
@CMSonYT 2 жыл бұрын
Criterion themselves said that's false. I'm sure criterion would do a great job compared to a lot of other developers but... 1. There's just no point for EA to dump money into an exclusive. Criterion will easily be more productive working on anything else. 2. It doesn't matter even if EA mildly favors it, there's just no evidence of Nintendo giving a shit about f-zero.

F-Zero should rewrite the lore to happen as the future version of WWE, happening in Metroid universe. With this premise they could set the races in cyberspace with Gamecube-style graphics, and actually make 60fps massive multiplayer possible, but I wouldn't stop there. Of course nintendo will still have issues with real-time online. So they should make an alternate game mode that's in high definition, but work more as a strategic single-player experience against NPC racers only BASED on real player's online rankings and AI mimicry of their style, like trained Amiibo but you can download them during a Splatfest-like event. At the risk of spiraling into a 90% larger of a game, the way TO train these racers should be it's own game mode that works like Monster hunter or Death Stranding, where you build a "legacy" by harvesting your own equipment. The premise is that you hide your face like Boba Fett because you're building illegal race tracks on remote planets, and all the online players clocking in time doing the same things and wearing the same equipment are "imposters" of your character. THAT amalgamates into its own NPC character, and every Splatfest some fo them get their own reveal trailers as genuine new, F-Zero characters. Majority of players will see pretty much THEIR own avatar with slight changes become canon, in WWE-style hype trailer. For the foraging gameplay I'm not thinking anytihng too involved, just a nice addictive cycle like Earth Defense Force. Rather than high production value it should rely on quantity over quality of options, and a comic-book-style image filtering. No balanicng or anything, just basic robust design and a way to gather mass data of how the PLAYERS weed through the assets, and what they find most useful or interesting. I'll be placing my order on GameStop's desk, let's see if they have anytihng on stock. Or I'll just delay my purchase of a Switch for another month, going on, what, about 30 now since I went back to playing Vita.

Very impressive figuring this all out. But I also believe another aspect that makes F-Zero, or rather F-Zero GX charming and why people still want one even with the inspired games that exist is because it’s missing the characters, it’s not just the gameplay. Even though in the prior games you don’t really see them, you can make them put in the cockpit in GX, and knowing your selected character is in that vehicle gives the player a little more of a connection in an odd way.
