State Senator Ram Villivalam has represented the 8th Senate district since 2019. He's been a champion of environmental issues during his terms in office, but this year, Sen. Villivalam passed the Health Soil and Waters Act, the first piece of legislation ever in Illinois to codify the role of state agencies in reducing nutrient pollution from agriculture. He also championed clean air with legislation requiring Chicago area transit agencies to purchase only electric buses after 2026.
