What ethics? What accountability? There are none.

Good God! I was an engineer in the Dept. Of Defense and for a number of years I served on source selection boards, served as design, construction and general engineering department head; that's not a high position in the scheme of things yet I was required to file financial disclosures about my wife and myselfe. I was forbidden from taking even a simple bottle of wine at Christmas, or any other time, from outside sources. To have done so would have certainly meant removal from my position and most likely from government service completely. Had I take any of the things mentioned as being gifted to the Court, I could have well been looking at jail time. It's about time to be hard ass with anyone in government but especially the higher members of any of the Executive, Legislative and JUDICIAL branches.

SCOTUS judges can't have sugar daddies. Wasn't THAT one of the perks that came with the job? Accountability to the people. Jeez 😢

As an Australian spectator to the freak show in America, one thing I really don't understand is this whole concept of a Supreme Court comprising "Republican judges" and "Democrat judges." In Australia we have a similar court, called the "High Court." It has judges. Non-partisan judges, and they don't waste their time undoing earlier judgments just because they don't like them. The idea that really significant issues can be decided by a handful of people in funny robes rather than by a nationwide democratic vote is totally incomprehensible, if not downright obscene. Why have a Constitution when you have a Supreme Court that can make a mockery of it any time it feels like it?

I have one problem with this new Code of Conduct... WHAT'S THE PROCESS FOR PUNISHMENT? TRANSPARENCY IS USELESS IF THERE'S NO PUNISHMENT TO THE CRIME... So, according to the New Code of Conduct, the Supreme Court Judges can continue to accept EXPENSIVE GIFTS from any one as long as they disclose those Gifts, but they won't be Charge of any Crime or Ethic's issue... 😠 SO, SUPREME COURT JUDGES ARE TRULY ABOVE THE LAW... 😠

What really infuriates me is that if they had only reported these "gifts" at the time each occurred, there would be no problem. So, as long as they report that they received hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gifts, it wouldn't matter that they received hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gifts. In other words, we as ordinary citizens wouldn't recognize the out and out purchase of our SCOTUS by billionaires as something that places all of the 300 plus million of us at extreme disadvantage compared to the few dozen billionaires who have our SCOTUS on their speed dial. Leonard Leo and his pals paid Alito and Thomas and Barrett and Kavanaugh and Gorsuch to yank the constitutional right to an abortion or other reproductive health care from 50% of our population. Forget this garbage that there is any such thing as an innocent gift. I want to see enshrined in the law that NO dollar amount of gifts be allowed. The SCOTUS should learn to live on their salaries. Just like the rest of us! Afterall, Their salaries paid for out of the salaries of us mere taxpayers are already well above that of us mere taxpayers. If that doesn't work for them...well they can always resign and hit the streets looking for a job in the private sector.

I often comment on ur SCOTUS vids with a skeptical bent. This one was far more inclusive of the impact of free flowing cash/gifts (AKA bribes) of both justices & the pols that made them so. Keep it up this important work. You mentioned possible criminality. I'd like to hear more about that issue and that any consequences will mirror those of any other american. And how America will manage any SCOTUS votes linked to this outside influence.
