I understand both sides of the issue. On one hand, Senator John Fetterman was always a person who dressed casually, even when he was the mayor of a Pennsylvania town, and no one really minded that. On the other hand, I understand what Whoopi is saying as well. There are some people who don't care how you dress as long as you do your job. I used to work the front desk at my college, and the Resident Director said that while many of us would wear shorts, sweatpants, and pajamas to the front desk, he would want us to dress somewhat professionally. I did that for a while until many of us realized that no one really cared that much. Most of us dressed in shorts, pajamas, etc, and our upper body would be in regular shirts or a neat looking t-shirt, and there were working the overnight shift, so it didn't really matter. I also knew a guy who didn't really like dressing in a suit and tie, so he got a job where he didn't have to wear one.

I am going to have to side with Alyssa and Sunny on this decorum situation. I feel like it has been historically traditional of the congressional body to dress up and to show themselves in a professional matter..wearing jeans and shorts and things that are so much more lax is not a positive reflection of one of the most powerful bodies within our democratic government. I feel like there are more important issues that we have to deal with right now.. I.e Debt ceiling issues, inflation rates, property taxes, abortion rights and etc. To be dealing with whether a senator can dress more lax than usual is quite trivial. I feel like the traditional policy should stay in effect. What if U.S Supreme Court Justices didn’t wear robes but took traditional pictures and sat on the bench wearing shorts and T-shirts.. how would we look at that? How would this affect the traditional morality that was set in place? some to think on folks.

At a time where our nation is declining, let's not make a visual representation of it even more concrete by allowing our elected government representatives to look like slobs. But if you're a traditionalist, then it would be taking us back to a time when women wore dresses and skirts with nylons, etc. Times have changed.
