Engel Rivera I have clearly explained it in multiple comments. We do not like McCain because he voted to KEEP Obamacare and force guys like me, who work 60 hours a week, to pay a penalty of $800 every year so worthless welfare recipients can get more free healthcare. And he also voted against the WALL, which was the central thing our side voted for. Illegals cost this country over $130 billion a year and drive down wages. Those are sound reasons. You morons pretend like they don't exist, though.

Let’s remember what John McCain's real legacy is: His father was the Admiral in charge of the Pacific fleet prosecuting the war in Vietnam. Because of this McCain got preferential treatment in the Navy. He was allowed to become a Navy pilot. But he was a terrible pilot. McCain crashed two navy Jets in his early career. Then while aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Forrestal, McCain got angry because he had to wait in line to take off on a bombing run. He shut off his engines, opened the cockpit, and in his haste to exit the aircraft to chew someone out about his having to " wait", he hit the button that released his live bombs onto the deck of the Forrestal. He took off running, as the bombs exploded, which set off a chain reaction of bombs from adjacent aircraft, and the ensuing explosions and fires killed 133 sailors aboard the Forrestal. While his fellow sailors were fighting the fire, McCain went to the pilot's lounge below decks and watched the men fight the fire on closed circuit TV. Hours later, McCain took off with a New York Times reporter buddy of his, and went on to say that after seeing the effects of those bombs on the Forrestal, he was beginning to question the morality of dropping those bombs on the Viet Cong. McCain was the direct cause of 133 deaths on his own ship, and was never reprimanded. He was nowhere to be found as the Forrestal had to limp to the Philippines for months of repair work. McCain was married then. His wife was stricken with debilitating injuries in an automobile accident. And was hospitalized for more than 5 months. McCain was off gallivanting with anything in a skirt. Upon returning from Vietnam Nam, McCain found his wife was disfigured by her injuries, which included a shattered pelvis, arm, and legs. In order to save her legs, doctors performed 23 surgeries on her, and had to remove significant portions of the bones in her legs, which left her shorter, and unable to walk, and in a wheelchair, she had to use a catheter. McCain was disinterested in his first wife's predicament. She had to go through grueling physical therapy to learn to walk again. After McCain left the Navy, he was intent on a career in politics. He and His wife Carol had gotten to know Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and McCain was eager to jump into politics. But he decided he needed a more visually pleasing young woman by his side. He callously divorced Carol, the mother of his three children, and immediately jumped into the sack with new wife Cindy, who was 18 years younger. Upon learning of this, the Reagans were shocked and angered by how he had treated Carol. While campaigning for congress, McCain used pictures of himself posing with Mr. And Mrs. Reagan, but there was no hearty endorsement offered by the Reagans. McCain's new young wife was also an heiress to an Arizona Brewing fortune. And let us not forget McCain was one of the Keating 5, who had helped swindle life savings from countless Americans in the Savings and Loan scandal of the 1980's. McCain was in it up to his eyeballs. Yet McCain was well-connected in Washington, and parlayed his connections into a seat in the United States Senate. So before the tearful tributes to John McCain, be sure you remember the facts about this self-proclaimed Maverick. The facts do not agree with that portrait of a heroic patriot and great American. With due respect to his family, John McCain was never the great man so many portray him as. I do not wish the man any harm or ill-will. But neither should we allow this false narrative fairy-tale about this scoundrel of a man as he faces his eternal fate.

Unlike most, this man served and suffered for the USA. He made his mistakes and was quick to admit them. He disagreed without being disagreeable. He stood up for his country and the men and women in uniform that serve it. He defended the honor of those he competed against instead of using race, class or creed to manipulate the simple minded. He was quick to congratulate others when he lost and even quicker to reach across the aisle. He achieved what most sorry folk would never be able to without whipping up enmity, bringing up sentiments or catering to the crazies. He was a REAL SUCCESS, teaching us all how to rise and keep moving after a fall. The party he left behind, the party of Lincoln and Eisenhower is now largely made up of those who jeer at athletes for kneeling but insult military heroes who did not dodge the draft but gave so much, some even their lives in the fight for freedom. Luckily for McCain, the present political situation in the US makes it even easier for us to see how much of a giant he was for maintaining the high standards of the American right- dignity, integrity, courage, honor and service. To see how low his party has sunk is to see how high McCain's legacy will continue to soar. May he rest in peace and may his family find solace quickly.

I seldom agreed with McCain's policies, but I always respected him. He was truly a man of integrity who consistently tried to put country first. In our hyper-partisan political environment, John McCain will be sorely missed as a voice of reason. It is my deepest hope that as we reflect on the greatness of this man, our politicians will look at themselves and the way they've been conducting business lately. He certainly didn't deserve the scorn of his president and party in the final months of his life. May his example be a catalyst for the change we need.

Alot of people would give in once cornered by the neighborhood bully. It takes alot of balls to be a prisoner of war. Only the envious ones would question such a mans depth of reconciliation and understanding. One man today took away the headlines from another for a simple and plain reason. Today we remember respect......it is earned not entitled. R.I.P. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE MR. McCAIN

@@jameswhiteley6843 you need to get some facts straight and actually tell why he's remembered. 1: He didn't cause the fire on the USS forrestal it started on the damn ship not from their own fight pilots who knew where the ship was so they wouldn't of dropped bombs after McCain supposedly did his little stunt. 2: you mean to tell me he crashed his plane into the ship while safely landing on the same ship that is ON FIRE cause of the crash and walked below deck to clamly watch his own ship burn? Yeah that lie is a little to bullshit to believe there buddy. 3: Funny how you skip over the actual reason why he's remembered. He became a prisoner of war when he got shot down in operation rolling thunder. He was given the options of early release because of his connections but refused wanting the other soldiers that came before him to be released first. He was there for 5 years being tortured while holding out for the soldiers to be released. Get your bullshit out of here. Seeing how you will not use actual facts as long as it doesn't help your lies.

Bob Dole was a war hero himself. He served in the 10th Mountain Division in the Italian Alps in WWII. His unit was dug-in in foxholes when their radioman, who had to get a better position outside of the safety of his foxhole, got hit by Nazi gunfire. Dole volunteered to go drag him back to safety, and in the process, got shot multiple times in his right arm, and was knocked over by an artillery shell that exploded next to him. He lay on the ground for 9 hours before he could be evacuated to an aid hospital. His injuries left him with permanently limited mobility and numbness in his right arm and upper back, and constant pain. He was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" device, for his actions. These were *men*. Compared to their ilk, we're all a pretty pathetic lot.

America is having a grand Irish wake. It's an outpouring of respect and admiration unparalleled in my 70 year life time. It's the celebration of a life well lived. As a patriotic event it surpasses every military parade that ever was. Every American is welcome, save one. The one not welcome is the one who who spat upon the American hero again and again and again. The one not welcome is the one who forces people to sign loyalty oaths. The one not welcome is the one who demands excessive praise on a continuous basis. This pathetic small cold-hearted man will never have the loyalty or praise that comes unbidden to the man he spat upon. I feel so sorry for the one not welcome. Sometimes it is bitter justice to reap what you have sown.

Speaking as veteran and on behalf of my family who has proudly served in the military for 5 generations I’m appalled at the disrespect the White House has showed to Mr McCain by returning the flag to full staff. My nephew brought this to my attention today and by the way he’s serving in the Army with my other 2 nephews a niece who’s in the coast guard and my son who’s in the Air Force. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing until I saw it myself.

He is the only person that struck fear in Donald Trump. He was a public servant.
