Senri never ceases to amaze me with her power, dynamics, and incredible hands. She plays the cleanest 6-stroke roll I have ever seen.

You have just finished a nice drum practice session, which you think wasn't too bad and while you feel good about yourself, you sit down and watch this clip of this amazing drummer! Mixed feelings flood your mind! On the one hand, you immediately lose the rush of excitement of your own successful(?) performance, you feel mesmerized as if you know nothing about playing the drums after all! And thinking that you've been playing for longer than she's been alive, doesn't help things much! On the other hand though, you can't help but feel another kind of excitement. The one that comes with recognizing an incredibly talented individual, a skilled performer with an amazing technique, astonishingly powerful sound, fast yet masterfully clean strokes and an engaging groove that you simply can't shake off your mind once this is over! You have just witnessed greatness!

There are a bunch of drummers (males and females) that are on youtube with millions of viewers and followers...and nobody of them have 1/10 of the talent of this young Japonese... She is just a drum genius...nothing less!

Came here after finding out she has done many of the drums for Zombieland Saga and even mo-capped for it and wow I am so happy to have found these vids! Absolutely stunning performance!

What I really find addictive about listening to her work is that she moves all around the drum kit, not just for flashy effect but in a manner that is musically pleasing and interesting. Constantly changing things up, again, not just to change them up but to produce moods, dynamic modulation, etc. Very thoughtful, ACCURATE, and dynamic performances, to my ear. One of those standouts in a sea largely of same ole same ole, again, just my opinion and tastes. Arguments welcome, but not encouraged. :-) I do hear a lot of Weckl inspiration and even phrasing and instrumentation choices in her playing, and that is definitely a good thing, as he is another favorite. I wasn't aware that he drummed for Corea (RIP, BIG loss) who I have listened to extensively for MANY years, about fifty, but when I heard him later drumming with other instrumentalists my first reaction is 'I KNOW that drumming'. Those, as I say, are personal standouts. I could easily pick 100 drummers at random out there and probably not audibly recognize more than a few, but then I'm not a drummer, so not a terrifically 'talented' ear in that respect. Just sayin'. The piece I heard later was the Weckl / Oliver / session guys (I think) take on "Higher Ground"... SPECTACULAR, BTW, highly recommended, one of my favorite covers. One of my absolute favorite drummers too! She is truly amazing! I'm trying to figure out that tom roll at 21 seconds!! It's not just a typical single stroke roll because it's accented on the first note and fly's around the toms. Is she leading with left, then right, left, right? It's too quick to really see what she's doing but I'd like to learn it and adopt it!! She is so smooth, precise, creative and has such fast hands! She obviously has a lot of chops down to a T along with feeling injected into every performance. I have all of her CD's and play to a few. I particularly love her odd meter beats, especially in the song Flux Capacitor. Brilliant! To me, as a drummer of 50 years, she's in my top 10 including other fusion drummers I admire so much and have patterned myself after like Billy Cobham, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colauita, Marco Minneman, Gavin Harrison, Dennis Chambers, Rodney Holmes and several others. She brings a smile to my face every time I see her perform. She's also very humble and sweet! I love her little laugh and when she says "hai" which in japanese means "yes". I hope to see more of her in the future! She deserves to be with a big name, recognized band! Thank you Senri for enriching my life!
