Sens ship out Vladimir Tarasenko ft. The Ottawa Sun's Tim Baines

In today's episode, Tim and Host Matt discussed the controversial trade of Ottawa Senators forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Florida Panthers, and reactions to Steve Staios' first trade as General Manager of the Sens. We discuss whether the Sens could have held out for a better deal, or if Tarasenko's no-trade clause (NTC) tied Staios' hands. We also discuss other Sens players who could be moved at the trade deadline such as Jakob Chychrun or Erik Brannstrom. Finally, we touch on the season-ending injury to Josh Norris, how this affects the Ottawa Senators going forward, and another year of looking forward to the NHL Entry Draft.

The rest of the NHL is laughing at the senators for this trade. I get maybe not getting good picks. But retaining salary. That’s brutal. I would have just kept him til the end of the season. He talks about being transparent and patient, to me he is doing neither.

True. Although, I know his hands were tired, but at the end of the day, there is nothing good about this trade for the short and long term.

To say the 4th becomes a 3rd if they win the f-ing cup? That's so insulting. Yes hands were tied, but I would have walked away unless that condition was for a 2nd at very least. F them all, why let them be happy? F them. Bad deal. Fire Staios.

We shoulda kept his ass all season and let him walk in the off season. Fuck his NTC. At least we coulda had some sort of power. Seems childish. I know. But so is a full NTC. We should've rode out his contract and let him play FA by then the Panthers may not have wanted him, lol. Wouldn't that be funny. I don't care about the whole 'be nice guy's' narrative so people will sign here. Nobody is ever going to want to sign here.....ever anyways so who cares. Two deep picks and retaining half his salary is just asinine......so stupid.
