Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a 2011 American science fiction action film directed by Michael Bay and based on the Transformers toy line created by Hasbro. It is the third installment in the live-action Transformersfilm series, and is the sequel to 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It is also the first film in the series not to be co-produced by DreamWorks. The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, Tyrese Gibson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Patrick Dempsey, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand. Its story is set three years after the events of Revenge of the Fallen, and follows the warring Autobots and Decepticons as they battle to possess powerful technology from their homeworld that had crashed on Earth's moon.

Something I just realised about Sentinel was that he was smart enough to see humans as a threat. So he massacred the special forces trained to fight transformers. That's something other decepticons never really had the sense to do.

i think it was bad on the producers' part to kill him off like that. ironhide was an amazing character and they didn't even give hm a chance to fight back. at least let him die in the battle of chicago.

Darren Quilty or just have sentinel absolutely beat the crap outta him at least, i think the emotional death was a way more of an impact for fans cuz it really set a tone for sentinels betrayal. maybe they fight and they sentinel wins and before he finishes ironhides calls for aptomus and then he shoots him

I have to say, this movie has been out for a long time and for some reason it was today I realized Ironhide had his back turned to Sentinel Prime...I don't think Ironhide would have been that stupid.

The fact that you can see how hurt Optimus is astounds me. I commend whoever did the CGI for these films, they really brought life to these characters I hold so dear to me. Say what you want about the movies but the 1-3 and Bumblebee are absolutely amazing and you can’t change my mind. Transformers has been and always will be a big part of my life and I’m never afraid to tell someone how much I love and enjoy this franchise

The CGI in these movies have always been breathtaking. The first 3 movies were my childhood and I'll always cherish them. People have a right to dislike them, that's their opinion; but I really hate it when they attack those that just want to enjoy the films. Though, I will admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Revenge of the Fallen and to me The Last Knight did suck. Age of Extinction was fine though.

@@HardcoreBeta Everyone giving Age Of Extinction crap instead of praising it for being one of the few of these movies (aside from 2007 and Dark Of The Moon) that actually *try* to tell a sensible story. Revenge Of The Fallen failed because of the 2008 writers guild strike, so I cannot really blame Bay for that. But what The Last Knight did was totally unforgivable. I also like AOE the most out of the movies, with Bumblebee being 2nd and 2007 and DOTM both sharing the 3rd place.

@@poseidon2363 in most incarnations Sentinel Zeta Prime is one of the original 13 primes, here it just looks like eventually he was chosen by the council fairly, and then he passed it to Optimus, and became his mentor during the war.

"What have you _done...?"_ Harnell nailed the line, conveying the shock and terror Ironhide felt both from Sentinel's betrayal and the effects his rust cannon was inflicting upon him, which made the scene all the more traumatizing 😰

@@bobbybutler8897 plus, it was extremely Brutal. Sentinel shot skids first, and mudflap was forced to watch his brother die in front of him, and eventually get sliced apart and rust away himself. Jesus, the twins were annoying, but no bot deserves to die like that.

In the novel adaption of TF3, Sentinel's betrayal had more context. He watched humans in his firetruck mode for awhile, he saw then fighting anongst each other and decided to go through with his plan. He hesitated at least, but ultimately decided humans weren't worth saving.

@WerewolfLPSoldier it adds a bit of context. But there are also comic adoptions of the movies. I think the firetruck scene is in there too. But in the book, you see things that were in the original script but cut from the movies. The twins are in the book and the comic adaption. You find out what happens to them.

You have to understand that even if the movie didn't state it similar to how Megatron and optimus are were brothers sentinel was their "father" and he favored optimus because he was also a prime so blaming optimus because he trusted sentinel is like blaming anyone for trusting their own father whom just betrayed them by that logic she is very cruel.

The thing I've probably disliked about DOTM the most even after seeing it as a kid was that Ironhide's death was never brought up again. Not later on by the other Autobots, not when Optimus commits his like 8th war crime against Sentinel, nothing. Not even in the later movies like Ratchet's did. Oh, and that they changed the original ending because it was released in the book first and Paramount wanted the movie to be different.

Well there is this one scene in "Age of Extinction" in which Attinger and Savoy are "interviewed". Attinger lays various pictures of the Autobots on the table, which have already been successfully "hunted" or which of them are already dead. One of these pictures also shows Ironhide. But that is really the only reference so far to his death that can be found in later parts

Because the Transformers movies didn't really care about their characters, they just killed them for shock value. A real character death has some sort of meaning to the story and tells you something about the characters around them. Like the Emperor's Death in Return of the Jedi symbolized both Anakin overcoming the Dark Side, Sidious's own arrogance, and the self destructive nature of the Dark Side along with, know you, actually serving the plot and having the big bad killed so the good guys can win. But Ironhide's death meant nothing. It just was a tool to clearly identify Sentinel as the Bad Guy and make the audience hate him. It's a huge disservice to Ironhide because didn't even get to be a character in his final moment, he died as a plot point for Sentinel. And he's never brought up against because he served his purpose, which shows you how little the films actually cared about him to begin with.

When you think about it, ironhide basically had the worst death in the movie. Or out of the 2 before this. Imagine how painful it is to have your flesh melted right before your eyes, and he was even alive for a while after being shot with the rust cannon, He died at the last possible moment!

@@OneWithNoFaceLMAO no you way you just said that first of all it wasn't because of optimus cuz the Autobots already knew their homeworld was dead and its the Decepticon’s fault for starting the eternal war in the first place because the Decepticon’s plan is to literally enslave or murder all life on Earth, and because even if the Autobots have no real benefit from it they believe protecting Earth and humanity from Decepticon tyranny is the moral thing to do. That's the first thing. Second thing is optimus isn't a villain you goof unlike sentinel a fake prime who instead of joining the autobots side, his own kind, he chose to join the decepticons and enslave a planet with life on it which was stated something a prime must never do is take a life of another planet so the only villain here was Sentinel prime not Optimus. Lasty.Additionally, Cybertron’s situation is entirely the Decepticon’s fault cuz they wanted to rule cybertron without knowing or caring it would poison the planet, or using up all its resources for their war until it could no longer sustain which lead up to blaming the Autobots for essentially fighting back.

Dark of The Moon was just fantastic. It was the first Bayverse movie to dial back on the offensive stereotype comedy, use stable camera shots, more in-camera action and just intense as fuck action set pieces. I love this film. I really do.

I never really acknowledged this as a child but now I truly appreciate how beautifully the CGI was used here to bring each Transformer's emotions to life. Just the look on Optimus' face nearly broke my heart. The raw emotion and sadness to see all the destruction caused by none other than his former leader, mentor, and father figure. You could only imagine what all went through his mind at the time.

Ironhide would of been so good to watch in Dark of the Moon’s Chicago battle, in 1 the excitement was more focused on Prime vs Megatron, in 2 we didn’t really see him in Egypt where as in 3 we would of seen him fight close combat quite a lot. I would of loved to of seen a Ironhide vs Starscream battle.
