the creators are literally shoving hints at us that it was Genova who drove Sephiroth crazy. He had headaches and hallucinations only in Nibelhelm . His head started to hurt already at the hotel , but he never complained about it to anyone ...Too many good Sephiroth have been shown to us .He 's literally a sweetheart.

What makes this moment crazy is the village folks. They felt natural and real. Their respect and sadly fear of Seph was raw.

6:52 - This is honestly really sad for me. You can see how much the villagers respected Sephiroth and saw him as a great hero to the point that they were genuinely concerned about him. You gotta wonder how different things would've been if just sat down and maybe talked to someone. And it makes what Sephiroth does to the village all the more tragic.

And if you look at it from Cloud's perspective, I can't even imagine how he felt when Sephiroth snapped. He was his Number 1 admirer, he wanted to be like him, to be him. That was the main reason he joined Soldier, his dream to become like his hero Sephiroth. Oh poor Cloud. 😢

Apologies if this was already revealed since I haven't been able to get into this fandom as of yet, but did Cloud actually ever try to console Sephiroth or did he just start fighting back after the initial knock out? I'm assuming after Sephiroth snapped, due to how OP he is, everyone just gave up on him as a good guy? I agree that if someone was able to just to talk to him and he had that someone to confide in, things would have been different (at least in a fan work, I doubt we'll ever see that in the canon verse) As much as I feel bad for Cloud, I feel worse for Sephiroth bc it was like no one was there for him.

@@XekutoZoren that's not cloud in the flashbacks. His memory is fucked and he's retelling the story of Zack. He was never a soldier and was actually a grunt during that time.

@ 13:00 damnnnnnn, you can just clearly see the POWER GAP the way he threw “Cloud” across the room. Sephiroth is really in a league of his own.

It is this moment where Jenova is the one who actually controls Sephiroth’s head. Despite the fact that he was able to control Jenova like a puppet throughout the series, it is ultimately her will that made him commit all those the atrocities

Correct. Cloud is present at some of these moments but only as a grunt soldier.

Cloud was specifically the Shinra infantryman who stood outside, preventing Tifa from entering the facility. I think the reason why Cloud sort of knows that Sephiroth had this "I am a monster" revelation in the facility is probably because Zack shared some of the details with him later.

@@deadpoolrockz6410My headcanon is that when Zack is killed his soul transfers to Cloud out of a desire to save his still comatose friend. At this point Zack and Cloud’s personality and memories become tangled together and the “Cloud” we meet at the beginning of the game is born.

⁠@@cathygrandstaff1957My running theory was Cloud when he and Zach escaped Niebelheim, Cloud was suffering from Mako poisoning and was in a coma like state, and when Zach was killed and swore to him “You are my living Legacy” thanks to possibly the Jenova Cells in them it was able to help transfer Zach’s Collective Knowledge to help shield Cloud mental state when he was mentally broken, both from the Mako poisoning and the constant Trauma he suffered after the incident. This theory could also be help backed up based on Mideel in Disc 2 of the OG

They said Crisis Core is not canon to the remake trilogy so I hope they use that to retcon it. Genesis appearing ruins EVERYTHING the original game from 97 managed to accomplish, i don't know what square was thinking ruining such a good scene and plot by retconning it so that their fanfiction gackt insert could explain it with awful exposition.

Just a reminder, this is based on the information of what Zack probably told Cloud of what had happened since Zack was the one who was watching Sephiroth come to his revelations while Cloud was outside keeping Tifa from entering the facility and then getting attacked by monsters. I'm also going to assume that Zack either omitted telling Cloud that Genesis was present or that because Cloud didn't have any affaliation with Genesis, Cloud's own mind just omitted Genesis from his own version of the story.

Genesis was retconned solely for crisis core. He’s going to be retconned again for the canon context of this trilogy

It's not that. Jenova Cells have the power of mimicry. Cloud literally absorbed some of Zack's memories through his Jenova Cells which is why he knows about the parts he wasn't there for. It even allowed him to replicate Zack's fighting style. When Tifa meets Cloud after 5 years, his Jenova Cells read her memories, which leads to the false SOLDIER persona Cloud for most of FFVII.
