@Amanda Cerny Although it would have been a historic achievement, it's probably for the best that it didn't happen. Although Serena is great, she isn't as great or as talented as Steffi Graf who won the Golden Calendar Slam (all 4 majors and the Olympic gold medal) by beating two other GOAT candidates - Navratilova at Wimbledon and Evert at the Australian Open. Serena's competition in 2015 was truly abysmal and winning the calendar slam in 2015 by beating Vinci and Pennetta would have felt cheap and undeserved, no doubt.

Dimitry I’m sure Steffi Graf’s wins didn’t feel cheap or undeserved when Monica Seles was stabbed by one of her crazy fans. It’s probably best it didn’t happen to ease your mind. But rest assured Serena’s accomplishments has surpassed Steffi Graf, but you can hold on to whatever you have left.

@@Sabior19 They didn't. Steffi already won 11 Slams before the stabbing and an additional 6 after Seles returned, including all 4 in 1988. Also, what accomplishments has Serena surpassed Steffi in apart from ONE more Slam (despite playing 10 more years than Steffi)? Steffi has more titles, more weeks at #1, more year end #1s, more wins, less losses, higher career win %, better record vs top 10 rivals, better consistency, higher peak and level of dominance and obviously the 1988 Golden Slam, the single most impressive achievement in the history of the sport. Serena not only lags considerably behind Steffi in all of these stats, but behind Navratilova, Evert and even Court. She is not the GOAT. Steffi is.

Dimitry Steffi Graf played in a weak era. Were her victories cheap and undeserved then? She tuck her tail and retired, that’s not Serena’s fault . Keep listing all her accomplishments, still doesn’t take away from anything Serena has done. Typical, keep moving the goal post. Still doesn’t matter, Serena is the GOAT. And that eats away at you every time you troll. I’m glad she has that affect on you. Keep trying!

Steffi played 13 Grand Slam finals against Evert, Navratilova and Seles, all three of which are top 10 all time greats. The total number of Grand Slams won by the opponents Steffi faced in Slam finals is 58. Conversely, Serena played 0 Slam finals against top 10 all time greats and the total number of Slams won by the opponents she faced in Slam finals is 30. She won 15 of her Slams post 2008 in the weakest era in the history of the women's game and beating hacks like Jankovic, Safina, Zvonareva, Radwanska, Wozniacki and Safarova in Slam finals. I'd love to hear some arguments from you as to why you think Serena is the greatest ever despite having the 6th most titles, 8th best win %, 3rd most weeks at #1, 3rd most year end #1s and 1/3 of her slam appearances ending before the Quarters? Preferably without resorting to cheap *ad hominem* insults directed at me. Serena is hot at the moment because by far the best player of the last 20 years, but down the line, tennis historians won't remember her as the GOAT. Not when she lags so much behind other greats in everything other than Slam count.

Bollocks. She was outplayed by Vinci who exposed her with her all round game and variety. Williams hit over 50 winners and 16 aces in that match and even won 8 more points than Vinci in the match, so she was playing really well, but simply got outplayed by an inspired opponent.

@@PravoslavniVitez Oh please, your take is absolute 'bollocks'. It was obvious to anybody who plays tennis Vinci won because Serena was so tight and nervous. Any ordinary tennis match, Serena would've blown Vinci off the back of the court with her incredible serve, and powerful, precise groundstrokes. Before this match, Vinci had not even won a set off Serena despite having 4 attempts. Don't let your hate cloud your judgement here.

@@bweb6 Williams was nervous, but she did not play a poor match. As I demonstrated, she hit over 50 winners, had an almost 20+ winner to UE differential and hit 16 aces. She was only broken 3 times in three long sets. Had she come up against a lesser quality opponent, she would have won. Give credit where credit is due. Vinci used all the shots in her arsenal to throw Serena off. Vinci can be a very difficult opponent at times because of the incredible variety she has and that is not something Serena has often had to come up against. She typically struggles against players with a lot of variety.
