This used to be part of my life - one of my favourite shows I never missed back then. I have been supporting AC Milan since this period. Marco Van Basten is one of my all time favourite sportsmen ever. Thank you so much for uploading!

That Milan side were one of the greatest teams to ever play the game. Simply outstanding football. And I'm a lifelong Juve fan.

I prefer this the heyday of the Italian Serie A than the English Premier League. Football looked better in Italy than it does in England. I love the fact football was played in brighter better weather of Italy in the winter months of the football season. I loved the huge oval stadiums and the passionate colourful Italian crowds of that era with their giant artistic flags. I just loved the whole package and it was well covered here by the British channel 4 at the time. In my opinion the whole thing as a package was way better than the English Premier League. The football that was played at the time was quite brilliant too better than anything you would see in the Premier League of the last 25 years.

I understand why the EPL was needed but it killed the atmosphere of the English game. Italian football during the 90s & in to the early 00s had such an esoteric feel. Every match seemed so important, the atmosphere was amazing, matches played in old but very unique & classy cathedral esque stadiums. I miss those days.

Love the theme music. It was on the Serie A programme every Monday night on Irish TV from 1990-92.

In the wonderful season Milan did not lose any game, the first team to make this wonderful achievement, what a beauty that this season is Capello first after replacing Saki and also Carlo Ancelotti last season as a player, Milan we missed !!!!

Greetings from Saudi Arabia… OMG 0:01 I was searching for this intro all my life! 2 things: the man dancing at 0:23 ( my celebration after I scored goal in school 😂) - David Platt ❤️❤️ I watched exactly the same episode at my late grandmother house back in the 90s … I just can believe it …. Thank you man …

From a Chelsea fan inter my favorite Italian team and I hope you win scudetto this season
@zackolmert9622 Жыл бұрын
I beleive Italian football was on BSkyB for the 91-92 season hence Martin Tylers commentary. Channel 4 acquired the rights for Serie A in the 92-93 season mainly due to Gascgoine debut at Lazio & that there was a need for league football on British terrestial tv after SKY got the TV deal for the newly formed EPL

After 5 games reigning champions Samp were in second, looking strong with that rampant display against Inter. 4 matches later, they weren't even in the top half of the table! A shame, they never got back to their title winning heights after this (though things looked bright for a few more seasons and the potential was there).

Milan of old were unstoppable to watch. Probably the greatest club side to ever play the game alongside Pep's Barca.
@satjinder2 жыл бұрын
Peps Barca were better. Milan wouldn't even get the ball against them
@Bossman5252 жыл бұрын
@@satjinder Sacchi’s milan had a far superior defence and attack when you look at Van Basten and Gullit. This was an era when Serie A was of the highest standard ever when it comes to club football. You can argue that the Premier League at present can rival that period of superiority that Serie A had. These two teams are what Id say as the greatest club sides ever to play the game; Milan would edge this contest.

@@Bossman525 I often have this argument with my brother so I know what I’m talking about. What you are forgetting you not only get prime xavi, iniesta,Alves,pique, puyol but arguably the greatest player to ever wear a set of boots Lionel Messi. Milan were a great side but did not win league title for 4 years. Barcelona 08-12 kept the ball better than any side in history and add the greatest player of all time then I’m afraid Barca edge it
@Bossman5252 жыл бұрын
@@satjinder La liga was an inferior league at the time. The two eras can’t be compared because that Milan played in a peak Serie A era. You can argue a transition of Sacchi to Capello Milan would be untouchable. The Milan of this season had the very best of Sacchi and Capello. 1991 - 1993 still had the three Dutchmen along with all those World Class Italian international defenders in the team.
@satjinder2 жыл бұрын
@@Bossman525the point I’m making if Milan were as good as you said they were surely they should have won the league from 89-91. They also spent a lot more money than anyone else because of Berlusconi so always had an advantage whereas Barcelona has Real Madrid, Bayern and financial muscle of the premier league against them. Barcelona won 6 trophies in one calendar year which has never been done by anyone. Guardiola took Milan’s pressing blueprint to another level.

Hi Ross, I've been trying to track down a Serie A goals montage that was shown on (the relatively new) Sky Sports around Christmas, from probably 1991 ("This is Sky Sports - part of the British Sky Broadcasting Network" era). The italian goals section from that year was about 5-10 minutes and was part of a european league goals compilation. Much like this feature, Martyn Tyler commentated but was accompanied by some cheesy synthesized keyboard tune. I've trawled KZfaq but obviously you have a wider net. I used to have this treasured compilation on VHS and someone did upload it a few years back but it's since dissapeared (boo!) Any chance you might know of this compilation? Thanks a million!!!

My possibly controversial view is that by this stage we were well into the Serie A glory period and, as great as Gazzetta etc was, Channel 4 missed the boat on a LOT - Sacchi’s Milan, Maradona and Napoli, the German influence at Inter, Sampdoria’s only Scudetto, Italia 90 itself; these had all come and gone by the time Channel 4 started their coverage in 92/93.
