Study after study after study has proven that the reason why minivans don’t sell is because women won’t drive them. End of story men are much more open to owning them because you can remove the seats and all stuff in them. This isn’t even a new trend people were pulling up to school in Tahoe’s when my daughter was in grade school in 2007.

You are so right. Buddy used a minivan to haul everything needed to finish his basement. But many women wouldn’t be caught dead in the minivan. I’ve heard it said so many times by females I work with. The few that have accepted the truth of practicality rave about their vans tho. “Coolness” be damned! LOL. Anyways, I really like this Traverse. And I really like the Tahoe as well.

@G-Rated
@G-Rated 24 күн бұрын
Lol. NAh, nothing could cannibalize the Tahoe’s sales. For as long as cars travel on the ground many people will always want the latest Chevrolet Tahoe regardless, people just love them so much and not just Americans. I think you’re criminally underestimating the value of the Tahoe. A mid-size RWD SUV wouldn’t cannibalize Tahoe sales. The only slightly less expensive but significantly smaller SUV wouldn’t sell as well as you think, that’s why *gm* has a lack of interest. It won’t have a V8 it’ll have the same 2.7t as the Colorado. With the level of tech and comfort *gm* offers today, top trims of that mid-size SUV would be well into the $60k’s and for that kind of money they’ll inevitably be circling around the Tahoe on the showroom floor anyway especially when you’re getting so much more for your money.

Thanks for the early limited scope view of the new Z71 Chevy Traverse, Nathan. Can't wait for the full review under your normal TFL conditions. GM has been building Turbo 4 cylinder with Low end torque for 15 plus years. I once had to suffer getting 50mpg in a 2014 Chevy Cruze 1.4 liter LOL.. Still, beating Ford and Ram on base model half ton truck engine. Great extra piece of mine for bad weather on roads with that twin clutch. All-wheel drive system. 30 grand cheaper than a Tahoe, good deal..

They should’ve kept the V6 in the traverse, or at least as an option. Some people like that low end torque. Plus, downsizing to a 4 cylinder in a vehicle this size isn’t going to make much of an mpg difference at all. My parents have a 2020 traverse ls with the 3.6L V6 and it’s a wonderful engine, it also comes with the reliability of no turbo.
@AutoReport1
@AutoReport1 2 күн бұрын
The 3.6 had a bad reputation with mechanics who sometimes had to fix some of them and think they have to fix all of them and can't. Plus the big 4 is a truck engine not a repurposed car engine. Lots of torque lots of power.

Because it’s better to have the extra power/space when you don’t need it than not have it when you do. Tahoe is the best value in its class because of its design and packaging. Now the Traverse is a much better choice than before, that doesn’t mean it demolishes the value proposition of a Chevrolet Tahoe. Really silly title for the video.

If you’re the sort of person that buys these things new and sells it to buy something else in 4-5 years, yeah a traverse is probably a more sensible option than a Tahoe for 4/5 people. But for people like me that buy them when they’re five years old with 70-100k miles on them I’ll still be looking for a Tahoe because I know they run forever with pretty simple maintenance cause they’re just Silverados with fancy suspension and a full body.

the rs is way more expensive than the z71 but it also has everything standard. a full loaded z71 approaches 55k, a much smaller gap. the rs still has a lot of things that you can’t get ok the z71, so the pricing makes sense.

@@YessirPauly We got the 200 series up until 2021 but we don't get the new 300 series. Its being replaced by the 250 series Prado. Even when we got the 200 series it only came in the top luxury trim and was pushing $100,000 USD so nobody bought them. Plus we have the Sequoia which is the same size but offers more trims with a much lower starting price so that basically ate all of the LC sales. The new 250 series is going to compete with the 4Runner so we'll probably see the LC flop once again.

Someone needs to do a 0-60 on this thing already. I would bet (like the Colorado) it’s slower than the V6 it replaces. Not that speed really matters in a family hauler, but just for sh*ts and giggles to see if the increased power/torque can offset the increased weight.

It will be more reliable than the V6 though and that’s because this 2.5T is way more powerful and not having to work as hard to achieve the same results in performance.

Prices for new vehicles are going up but what the consumer is getting is going down.... Smaller engines in these SUV's. The days of the V6 in the mid size are gone. People are attracted to the glamour of the dashboards with the screens. America loves screens. With large TVs and phones if you dont have one you havent made it in life... Its cost so much less for a manufacture to install a screen and run the same software for all vehicles than individually have employees installing knobs and wiring. Your are getting taken advantage of in the pricing.

I rented a Chevys Traverse It was nice BUT but a quick google search revealed that these SUVs including the Chevy Traverse, GMCs Arcadia and Cadillacs XT6, all the same vehicle platform, have been plagued with spectrum of problems body, engine and trans issues resulting in loss of reliability and longevity and or expensive repairs. Seems newer models may have less complaints but still ... Research wisely before purchasing. I mean if your only gonna keep it a few years while under factory warranty then sure.

@@G-Rated That wouldn't be the trim I'd pick. I'm not a huge tech option or extreme off-road guy. What I want is 7500lb towing that can get thru a foot of snow with all rear seats that lay flat for max internal cargo. $50k

@@Justin_Holt that’s such a small niche market for *gm* to spend money developing a great value trim with that much capability, just for folks to choose the overpriced Toyota 4Runner that won’t have half the looks, feel, tech, capabilities, etc. but be nearly double the price because of unproven perceptions of better long term reliability. The business model for it is too shaky. The only way I see *gm* doing that is if it’s a mid-size off-road EV. Toyota can’t compete with *gm* in the EV space, Toyota’s perception of significantly better reliability with ICE is diminishing, when it comes to EVs that perception doesn’t even exist and it’s the #1 way the company sells cars.
