I've been in search of the perfect schooling fish that acts tight together and United and they are few if non-existent, got 24 of these last year in a 6 ft mixed community planted driftwood hiding place tank and they stay put, along with Pristilla tetras they just stay parked and don't roam, nobody's predating on them they just are chill, coming to appreciate my guppies more and more because they are bold and fearless and colorful but I still want that United schooling look that I hope a school of 24 of these would bring

You could see them even try to take a bite of fin out of each other...just mean little fish. Great natural shots...Is that hyacinth? Or related more tropical Hyacinth than what we see sold in the states? That last segment? Looked so giant aquarium like...with the Ficus roots background they sell nowadays. Props too for the scene of them with young Brycons and Leporinus.

I just asked on a previous video about cooler tolerance tetras, here I am, hope to find your von Rio tetra video as I am crazy about mine and hope they are breeding in my very heavily planted tank, they have huge mouths for a tiny fish and can eat and grow quickly

I had 4, now I only have 2. Passed away due to viral infection. But, they weren't as agressive as you said. The Black Phantoms I had were very agressive instead.

thank you. remember they do not like hot water, best Apistogramma would be A.trifasciata, A.borelli that occur in the same region and don't mind the cooler water

@@belowwater it's a pair of apisto hongsloi with several black neons, at 23 degree. they seem to be happy and look lovely in this setup.. i might just keep them here permanently if the adult size is still a bit small to be housed with blue acaras. :P

Another awesome video. Thank you. How high is the flow rate in these areas with serpae. Given the adequate areas to hide behind or plants to sleep amongst, could they be put in High flow tanks? By this I mean dedicated high flow tanks for rheophilic fishes not high flow rates you would see in a general community tank. Thanks for your time.
@belowwater
@belowwater 10 ай бұрын
they are often in very high flow, but this is not a rheophile fish as such. in this region that space is more occupied by Astyanax, Parodon etc.

@@belowwater I had mine at 26°C and turned it down to22°C after watching yor vid (22 is the lowest temperature recommendet for their tankmates). Cant tell if it effected their colour, since it always changed depending on the day and breeding activity. However, I noticed that they became way calmer towards each other while still eating normally. They arent always bickering with eachother like before anymore.

@@SkipperBlue we buy some wild ones (too expensive for our market in Canada), but i keep them outside in eastern Canada from May to October and they are beautiful red. I think the live daphnia, algae etc in nature helps with the colour also. I agree that the inbred farmed fish have much less colour!
