Hey internet! This time around we're here to do another neuro bass in Serum. Pretty similar to some of Noisia / Spor / Billain bass stuff I suppose. (Your mileage may vary)
Nothing beats the classic Reese for a neuro sound, and I think you'll get a lot of use out of this patch!
Hope this helps, and hope you folks learned something!
Stay classy!

There's a video of Mick Gordon doing a talk on how he made the DOOM soundtrack. If you're into music production, I really recommend watching it. It's informative and very entertaining. During the talk, it'll become clear why this sounds so much like the DOOM ost: he uses a lot of techniques that are common in neuro: lots of resampling and sine compression. Except that he does it mostly with analog effects and with guitars as well.

Nice tuts man. Your voice is so relaxing and you're pretty skilled, and i've watched most tutorial on the tube. Anyway, i guess i cant remake the same sound as this. I do all the stuff, but i miss all the automation part to get the sound. As it is, out of serum, it's a good reese with a wow2 - kinda autofilter notchy- sound. I always get stuck in this part. Anyway i subbed the channel, keep on the good work.

Hey dude! Thanks haha, glad to hear it. Dad voice for the win! As for the sound, I think part of it really comes from the plugins used so if you don't have the exact same chain your mileage may vary - especially with H-Comp, like Ableton's glue compressor it has a pretty distinct sound/color it adds. Automation is a big part of it all though, and that just takes practice to figure out both what movements sound nice as well as where said movements take place. But in the end it's all just about experimenting!
@CoGAmbientMusic
@CoGAmbientMusic 6 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot man. Indeed i used the same plugins as you, but, as you said, i have leaks in automations. I'll keep trying!

Hey dude! I've done quite a few tutorials on that kind of style already, but I will be doing another here soon about that liquid dnb/future garage lowpassed reese sound. However, if you have a specific question about that track let me know and I can add it to the suggestions list!

I'll check into it! Sounds a lot like what I did with our track 'Fear' - there's an 'inside the mix' video on my channel here that covers that, but I have a feeling this one is the same thing just layered with some granular foley. I'll add it to the suggestions!

why is your speakers so close together? That's def. not an equilateral triangle lol
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Nathan! I sit pretty close to the desk, so it's actually roughly equal when I'm working on stuff. For the intro/outro of videos, I'm a lot farther from my desk than I am when mixing/tracking so that's why it looks a little weird haha.

Haha thanks so mcuh dude! And I know, I'm like one of four people keeping Steinberg in business haha. But I've used it so long at this point that changing to anything else is like having my arm cut off. I do use Ableton when we perform live though. I've thought about switching a few times, but Cubase just has a lot of stuff that I need that Ableton doesn't, especially when it comes to vocals and audio. Maybe Live 10 will change my mind though!

haha i was just joking but you got a pretty nice setup there. You like the Yamaha's? I ended up picking up the 8 inch JBLs but I was looking at those ones as well.

haha yeah I admit I'm an Ableton fanboy lmfao. Obviously DAW is preference and usually you prefer whatever you start out on so i totally understand cuz I fell the same about Ableton! like I tried Bitwig and Pro Tools (I still use PT for recording Vocals but nothing else lol) and it just feels weird using anything else.

Ok.. i dont have a vape atm because i don´t have the money at the moment so i think this could wait until christmas... but if you want i would love to have your tip which liquid and which vape to buy
@VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 6 жыл бұрын
I order from Vapewild now exclusively really. I used to try the premium juices and stuff but the point was to save money as versus cigarettes, and premium juices get pretty pricey after a while. Vapewild is really the cheapest 'decent' juice that I've found and I'm happy with most of the flavors there. With mods, I have the Alien 220w and I really like that one, reliable and built like a tank. Just get some extra batteries! Tanks is a Crown III which is nice, and the coils last relatively long (depending on the juice). Someday I need to quit with the vaping but nicotine/caffeine are what keep me stable in life haha.
