Awesome video. Great troubleshooting and great safety tips. The wire running to the Spa Pack, that looks like the same wire I have in my tub to my Spa Pack. The local Electrical supply store had told me that it was outdoor-rated AWG 6 (direct bury, black), so I have used that - buy interestingly you mention that (may) not be to code. It was very hard to bend the wires into the terminaIs the spa pack. Luckily, made most of my repairs and tub is sizzling hot! Just need to fix the "waterfall" next season. Cheers! Thanks ehhhhh

On new j-3## Jacuzzi if they trip gfi breaker at exactly 5 minutes , it is logic on control board pulling a ground to force a shut down from some past fault like over temp, slide dip switch 10 to on and power for 20 second, then power off and move switch 10 back too off and things will all work again and no more gfi trips

Enjoy your videos, love the fact how detailed you are. Love the quality of your work. I have a question. I have a 2005 Jacuzzi J325. I've worked on it over the years myself. Recently I discovered a leak so I downed the tub, drained and fixed the leak. About 2 weeks later i flipped the breaker and now it keeps tripping? Power to the pack is fine. Disconnected from the pack, breaker sets. I started disconnecting the pump, heater, ozonator, etc. Breaker still trips. I unplug the transformer and the breaker will not trip. Connect the transformer. Trips. Everything I read says transformers will NOT cause this? I suspect it's the board that's gone bad but would like your opinion, or I'll pay you to come out. I'm in Peoria. Thanks.

In 30 years of repairing spas, there have been fewer than 5 instances where the problem was the wiring from the house to the spa. I agree that that wiring is a b...tch to work with, and that's why I have approached disconnecting the wiring as a last resort usually to prove to the homeowner that the breaker is bad. A lot of techs don't check the connections which can become loose, good job pointing that out. Three things that I'd do differently. One, if the spa is old, the shut off valves (especially if stuck) deteriorate and either won't hold back the water or GOD FORBID, the handle will come off when you're trying to restore flow. Now you've got a major plumbing job. Do yourself a favor. If the spa is drained, leave the valves alone. Second, the cost of a new gasket is negligible compared to the cost of a "go back." Always put in new gaskets no matter how good the old one looks. Clean out the channel and add a couple of dots of silicone to keep the new seal in place while reinstalling. Three, be very careful not to overtorque the retaining nuts on the manifold. It's very easy to snap off the male pin welded to the stainless steel. I enjoyed watching your video, thanks for your work.

Great video. I live in Las Vegas NV. I just purchased a small Marquis Leisure Series 110 hot tub. I plan to hard wire it from the service panel that is located about 75 feet from the spa. I already have a 20 amp GFCI breaker in place from a jet tub that was in the house. 1. Can I use 12 gage 3 wire, black white and ground Romex to hard wire from the breaker in the service panel to the tub? 2. Should I add a disconnect box inline near the spa? I would value your opinion.

@spaman5440
@spaman5440 4 ай бұрын
It very simple.. If you go to Discount Tire you wouldn't just replace only three tires if all four tires are the same age...You would replace all four. Right Now I treat the entire Hot tub as several systems the heating system being one of them. You can go and change just the heating element and be done. The problem you have and will run into is... What ever caused the heater to fail is also going to cause the sensors to fail also and so on. You also have the task of getting the heating element installed correctly with out any leaks as well as the sensor that has to be removed and then a new fitting reinstalled. Its a little more tricky then it seems Its not hard you just have to be able to get it right the first time if not it leaks and you start all over again. I prefer to install the(as I call It system)entire heater with a new system and know that when I finished the job it will last for several years. I do not have time for call backs...Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Thanks for all your videos. Wondering if you can help answer a question I have- I have a hot tub that has an LED light. It's a multicolor 12 Volt RGB light. When I've worked with RGB lights in the past, there are 4 wires that go to the light. This one however only has 2 wires (black and red) going from the control board to the light. I would assume it's just injecting a DC voltage to the light. I'm curious to know how this light and changes colors? Will the control panel on the hot tub adjust the voltage and there is some type of control/logic board in the light that changes the color based on the input voltage? Or is there some other way this operates? Part Number for the light is 6560-420.

Ever heard of Bullfrog X7 not working with Square D brand breakers. Mine is not even a year old. Trips daily and sometime a couple times a day then will hold for days. It's random. Like I said tub is very new. Professional wired it. Dealer says their tubs don't like the square D brand available at big box home improvement stores and they have had issues with customers using those? Tubs don't even pull near 50 under full load. Maybe ozenator has moisture? But curious of that brand of breaker and box is known to have issues?

Well I really need a few more details...Like how do you know you have 240 to the tub if when you flip the breaker on it trips ? Now when the electrician finished the install and checked for 240 with no wires hooked to the hot tub and the breaker did not trip and he show 240 on his meter just because it didn't trip the breaker and it showed 240 on the meter docent mean he didn't wire it wrong . My best day of the week is Monday after the DIY or master Electrician wired the job and said there is something wrong with the hot tub ! ***NOTE*** Every service call Ive done with a NEW spa that had just been wired and has a problem with the breaker tripping when turn on was wired wrong.... On a new hot tub everything is new...Motor ,Heater ,Fuses everything for the most part is plug & play not much that will cause the breaker to trip.. On a used hot tub there are far more thing to check out that will cause the breaker to trip. Hope this Helps Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Great video spa man. I have a similar problem. My old breaker was worn out. The brand new breaker trips immediately. I Bypassed the breaker from the main, everything works great. I verified the wires are good from the breaker to motherboard and I have 248 volts. I also disconnected the light, heater, pump, and ozone plugs. Breaker still trips with everything disconnected, yet everything works with power straight from the main panel. I did find the air motor fuse blown to replace it. Other than that I'm stumped. I removed the motherboard to look at the back and no burn marks, no burned wires, no corrosion on wire connections. I also tightened everything to make sure nothing is loose. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

@@spaman5440 Thanks for sharing, I was able to eliminate one problem. The main neutral wire to the pump was on the neutral buss and not connected to the breaker. After I figured out the fast trip problem everything ran for 2 minutes, then tripped again. The interesting part is I lowered the heat so it didn't come on and the breaker never tripped. If I raise the temp to 100 degrees, it trips. Is it safe to say that it's something in the heat element causing the trip and needs replacing? What has me stumped is bypassing the breaker and having a strait run from the main panel runs fine. No trip and spa runs excellent. Any thoughts?

Yes I have..You have to become a private eye. Ok with the Breaker off Check to make sure GFCI is connected correctly then check to make sure all the connections are tight. If you have any wires that go under ground check to make sure there is no water in the line that goes under ground.Check to make sure no Romax was used in any of the wiring another words no 6/3(6/3 does meet code and is safe and legal but sometime will cause breaker to trip)I use THHN # 6 wire all four wires. Make sure the bonding wires are installed on motor to pack and connections are tight. Now if it still trips then we start checking the pack and the fuses I also have a video that talks about the 6 thing to check. Its a process of elimination. In this video I was just showing what to look for and then how to fix and replace if that is the problem. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
