This is definitely a late reply, as I am a new sub and just came across this video today. I can completely empathize with you and hope that you are back on track. I too suffer from chronic pain due to a spine/spinal cord injury, 6 failed back surgeries and permanent nerve damage. I wish you well and hope things can improve for you and then stay smooth sailing for you.

Don't be discourage over days like this. That surgery was still surgery, cutting into tender skin and placing foreign objects in your body! Think of it this way. I just got my ears double pierced. No infection, just healing time, takes at least 6 weeks. For just a little regular piercing. Your body still has a lot of healing to do inside and that will take time. You have also been pretty much on the go with dress buying and a wedding, etc.! That is pretty big stuff to handle immediately after a surgery! Lovely to see how well Harlow retrieves things! Congrats to you! :)

Very thankful for this vlog today, It's really what I needed to hear. I had a few errands I really would have liked to run today I woke up having a particularly rough POTS and gastroparesis day. Luckily I am still able to work part time with my chronic illnesses and I have a shift later tonight, so I really needed to skip the errands. You reminded me I'm doing my best and to not get too discharged because I am sick and can only expect so much. Thanks Jaquie!

Hi Mr. & Mrs. Judd!! Jaquie, you look SO much better!! Your face has color now and you sound so much improved!!! Just take it easy. You do not have to run a marathon in the first day!! I wish I could be a Patron but I have chronic injuries as well as 2 chronic illnesses! Grave's disease and most recently, a diagnoses of Multiple sclerosis!!! Quiet frankly, had I not fallen down the back steps & struck the right side of my head in March 2013, I had no idea I had MS!!! I have had 3 major car wrecks in 1975, 2004, & 2006 which caused a lot of the issues that I would think it was from the major damage to my neck discs and/or to the Graves disease. I had an MRI in June 2013 after the lump on the right side of my head from the fall in March, did not improve. I expected to hear I had a skull fracture. When the doctor walked in and said I either had Lymes disease (I was originally from PA), ALS, or MS, I completely broke down. The Lymes was ruled out from a blood test. I was still fighting (5 1/2 years!!!) with disability, so I had to use low cost clinics? But the one doctor I had to keep was my pain management. While the other doctor couldn't say if I has ALS or MS, he looked at the MRI and saidcit was MS. Jaquie, you are so lucky in the fact that you have a big family. I was the only child of both only childre,, and they both passed on. I have one of my 3 cats, Isabella, who will be 19 on August 3rd!! She heard me crying back in many hears ago. She jumped up on my sofa and put her fuzzy belly on the back of my neck! It greatly helps with the pain!! Can I ask you a question?? Where did you get Harlow!! And how olf was she when you got her. How did you learn to train her?? I was wondering if you had found a book on training Harlow? Also how old was shecwhen you started to train her?? I am a lot older than you are. I will soon turn 61. And being alone it is difficult. God bless you and Judd as well as Harlow!! And happy newlywed day!! I justvstarted watching your channel a few months ago after seeing Harlow's sweet face as I flipped through channels. You were on the Doctor's. I had not founf out how you & Judd met! Then during one of the wedding shopping videos you said you met in school! I love when he says you have freezing cold hands!! You two make such a cute couple! add in Harlow and it is cuteness everload!

Sorry about your high pain day, glad you have Har to help. I am in pain too especially since the weather changed. My dh said something very important about people with chronic pain and especially after surgery. He said pain in general can affect all of your body's systems, because of the way the body responds, this is true for everyone, so pain will dampen down the ability for the body to digest for example. He will get me some links to share, after surgery it is really crucial to have pain under control before worrying too much about addictions, that comes a little later or if your doctor over medicates you. It is normal for the body to do this but important to control the pain so that you can digest well and better your eating issues, especially since you just had your feeding tube. That said keep your doctor notified of how things are going, even before your next visit, they do want to know and better for them to tell you its okay than at your visit that you should have called. Also speak with your trusted nutritionist on the best calories to be eating by mouth that are also gentle on the stomach that can not aggravate the whole digestive system. Be careful of processed foods and sugar foods, they will defeat everything you are working on. The stores have lots of delicious more natural options for you that are pre-made or just simply can be thrown into a blender and frozen, like fruit, and you have your own yummy pop, raw honey from your area is also good, but like I said your nutritionist if they are good will help you through all of this. Just an fyi, my dh is an exercise physciologist/addictions counselor that has worked with many populations that have been through a variety of surgeries and recoveries and he stopped your video to tell me this, and he never does that. Just view it as maybe God felt you needed to know that for some reason. Hope that helps a little in managing pain so you can eat better and get those yummy good calories down and enjoy them. Food can be good for you at the same time as yummy and fun. You should have Janiece make you some yummy healthy desserts that are also good for breakfast since she went to cooking school 0:) Rest up and recover, prayers and peace!

I just finished watching all about Harlow. You are so well spoken and informative that it was a total joy to watch the video you kept saying was so long. It didn't seem long at all as I was totally engrossed. I never realized the commitment of a service dog but I am sure Harlow is a exception to all other service dogs. She is truly amazing. She is completely devoted to you and you can see the love you both share. I must say I was quite surprised to learn of how rude some people are in their lack of consideration to your disability and Harlows role in her needed alertness. I at one time stepped in to corner someone who was in the act of attempting to distract a service dog. I tried to be as polite as possible and subtle so as not to disrupt the service dog or owner. The lady at first seemed to be offended at my interruption but when I calmly explained that she shouldn't try to make contact with the dog or acknowledge it at all she understood and thanked me. The dog and owner were unaware of any commotion and I was thankful for that. I hope I did right. I love your site which I only discovered about a week ago and I watch daily. I go through all you previous posts as well to keep informed. You are true inspiration and I find myself being embarrassed over the many trivial things I would complain about before reading about your quest through life. I wish much joy and improved health in your future.

When you have a physical reason to take pain medication, you're not an addict. you're dependent on them to survive your day. don't put yourself down for needing pain meds. I have complex regional pain syndrome. it took me 9 years to get diagnosed because its a very rare disease. most doctors have zero knowledge of it. I suffered for 9 years, barely being able to even put my foot on the ground. I am so very thankful for a doctor who understands crps and prescribes me the medication to live a normal life. my disease has zero cure. so I am a lifelong pain patient. it sucks, I wish I had my career in law enforcement back. I wish I was healthy, but the reality is I'm not. and that's ok. I just do the best I can. sending you hugs. xoxo

Harlow is such a good dog!! Pretty rainbow!!! I understand the frustration with chronic pain days. Best we can do is rest. And yes, I don't like taking pain killers either, because I am afraid I will develop a tolerance to them too. I hardly take pain killers, unless my ankylosing spondalitis makes me bedridden. And it's rare I let it get to that point. Glad to hear the feeding tube is making you gain weight 💜💜

I've always had large breed dogs my whole life and I hated small breeds. I took a chance on a chihuahua as a house pet and after I got her I was diagnosed with a disability. My dr said I should give SD a shot and see if my chihuahua could help. We came up with a list and goals and stuff the dog could do in relation to her size and my disability. Without going into detail (if anyone really wants to know I will but I doubt they do lol) turns out my chihuahua is a fantastic PSD. Sure there are plenty of things I wish she could do like DPT but she makes up for the other stuff she does. She's a fantastic SD and I couldn't ask for a better best friend/companion.

I can tell the difference of before and after your feeding tube! I am so happy that it is helping you! I, too, suffer from chronic illness, although I am still on the long road to a diagnosis. I love watching your videos, they help me feel less alone and your videos also helped me realize how amazing a medical binder is and how useful, as well as helping me work through my own chronic illness issues. Thank you so much for sharing what you go through and how you deal with it! I know it is a lot to share your personal life with the world, and I think you are amazing for doing so! And I love what you have trained Harlow to do! When my health is more stabilized, I plan on getting a service dog. There is just so much I cannot do for myself. You can take credit for the fact that I now have a medical binder, I buy those shower wipes you have told us about, I plan on getting a vog mask as well due to the fact when I get sick now, I stay sick for much longer and it is so much harder on my body.

+Chronically Jaquie - Hi Jaquie, I'm a relatively new subscriber and am really enjoying your channel. I really feel for you and all of your chronic illnesses and I think of you often. I found your channel initially because I am looking into getting a service dog. I live in Canada, so some things are a bit different, but the information you give is so great and I really appreciate it. My biggest health/chronic illness issue is severe 24/7 chronic pain. I had a spine/spinal cord injury 7 years ago and have had 6 failed surgeries since then. I also am one of the lucky people who gets keloid scarring, so I've grown heaps of scar tissue including around the nerve root of my sciatic nerve and other major nerves. Despite having this type of injury, I am very lucky that I can walk, although my mobility is affected. I can walk to get around the house, but use a cane and/or wheelchair for longer stints. I can manage about 50 yards before my pain is unbearable and once it gets to that point, it tends to set me back for at least a day but usually more. As a result of the nerve damage, I have very limited sensation in my one foot, especially the bottom and big toe as well as severe hypersensitivity (aka radiculopathy) in my foot and lower leg. I do run a likelihood of falls, but don't tend to fall all that often. Again, when I do though, I am usually laid up for days/week(s). I wonder what your opinion is of getting a service dog for chronic pain. I don't bend well, so that in itself would be a beautiful gift. My daughter is 17 yo and it is just the 2 of us, so I think now is the time to start the process rolling because I will really be hard up once she moves out on her own. I am not able to become a patron, but I am so happy you are able to get your vlogs subtitled. This is one of the types of work I used to do, except in the medical field, prior to becoming permanently disabled. It is so great that you are able to provide this for the deaf and hard of hearing community. The only thing I would suggest speaking with them about, if possible, is the fact that they do not use ANY punctuation, which can be very important 1) just to be correct, and 2) it can affect the way a sentence/paragraph reads in some instances. Thanks again, Jaquie for your videos. I have a lot of catching up to do and since I spend so much time in a horizontal position due to pain, I have enjoyed having your channel to 'binge' watch. Hi to Harlow and Judd, Janeice and Paul and of course your lovely mom. If you can take a moment and reply regarding your take on how a service dog is beneficial (or not) for a person with chronic pain, I'd greatly appreciate it. I almost feel guilty considering getting one because I know the waiting list is so long and I know there are people such as yourself who have far more dangerous health conditions who need them too. What are your thoughts? xo Heather 🇨🇦

I am 15 and have an anxiety disorder with also affects my stomach (like an "nervous stomach" on steroids) I've done so much research on service dogs and my parents think because I'm not blind or deaf you don't need a service dog. I wish they would just have an open mind and look at other options!

Sammie Besel hang in there! I'm an adult, but my parents don't get it either... But soon you'll be able to hopefully get a dog for yourself and work to train it yourself (look on KZfaq for lots of tips and info! That's what I'm doing with one of my pups, and he's amazing... Still lots of work ahead, but he gives me hope for the future!) Even though I'm stuck in bed more than I want to be, I can still learn all about... Anything, really! So learning about training dogs gives me something to focus on, and then I can try to practice the skills with my pup throughout the day, and it makes me feel better, and he likes it, too ;)

Sooo glad i found your vlogs. I'm a chronic pain suffer as well and thou i dont have as many challenges as you do, it really helps to hear from others that they have similar problems. It can be very lonely to be chonically ill. I don't take regular pain meds for some of the same reasons as you, but also because for me they "mask" my pains for a few hours and then the pain hits me double up and nothing will help. Right now i'm trying some epilepsia meds even thou i dont have epilepsia, but they help ease my pains a little bit and giving med a few more spoons most days 😊

Your rate of 45 is probably based on the caloric value that they have you on. Having had experience with a friend with a feeding tube, they could probably switch you to a different formula with a higher caloric value so that you could remain on the 35ml/hr

Interesting point, #TraceyDoerrer! Besides having someone that I identify with, in watching vlogs like this one, it's also educational - in fact, I just paused the video because our girl here said her pain med is a narcotic in some states and not in others - huh?! So I looked it up ... I was not surprised to find in a state I used to live in - where every patient with chronic pain has horrific problems trying to find a pain management clinic///doctor, because - every time they do - the state screams "addiction! overmedication!" & shuts them down -- classifies it as such. Honestly??? Lawmakers should deal with problems that are real, not create new ones that only hurt people!

My mobiity and eyesight and swallowing reflexes are so much better . I hope it was just the nausea meds that caused the anaphylaxis and not the IVIG. Then you would have three things in your bag!

I don't know if you have ever tried it but Turmeric is a great herb for pain. I have EDS and Gastrophessis too, and I started taking it a while back and I get a great deal of relief, it can even help with stomach issues unlike most pain killers that can make it worse. There is even a study showing for some people with chronic pain it can be more effective than narcotics, and without the side affects. Blessings!

Mitzi D ....thanks for this! I have EDS and IBS-C so I also hesitate using narcotics. I'm super new to herbals and naturopath in medicine. Any suggestions on how to take it, how often etc, for our lovely high pain tolerance pain? thx!

samiamisme I'm still figuring out what works for me personally, but turmeric seems to help (it does reduce inflammation and overall I think I can tell a difference in pain), try and remember that it is fat soluble, so it's best absorbed if you have some fats to eat sind the same time as you take it (coconut oil is what I use to mix it with for my dogs)... Lately I've got some hemp seed oil pills off Amazon and it seems logical to me to take one or two of those with one or two turmeric pills... Not sure if that's actually true or not, but... Yeah. Suggestions I guess ;)

Hey Jaquie FYI captioning is also helpful for other conditions, not just Deaf and HoH. For example I have an Auditory Processing Disorder secondary to Autism and sometimes, though I am able to hear, I cant process the information to understand what is being said, so I always use captions if possible.

I want to thank you for your channel. I will have a lot of good information from following you. My med profile is of course different from yours but your video today was timely. I just decided to get a service dog, my Dr. wrote me a letter but I don't think he even thought about a service dog being more appropriate. I have been a chronic pain pt. since 1978 and back then they were all into steel rods and I said no. Now I have all these other problems from just this one thing. Maybe you should do a few videos on the process to get a service dog.

Jaquie! I have a video suggestion, for whenever you are up for it, if you would like to do it! I'd love to see a video on how you prevent getting colds/flus/infections with immunodeficiency. I've been sick twice in about the last month and it's so miserable on top of my other chronic illnesses. What precautions do you take to minimize getting sick? Big hugs! Always praying for you!

I was only good at 30 and it worked for me. It will mean more of a gradual weight gain but it's really an individual thing. Since you do the 24 hour feed it shouldn't be that big of a deal not getting to the 45. You and only you knows your body. 🤔🤔 Listen to it because you will know what it's telling you. When it screams it screams!!!

You know how you referred to it as your energy, something clicked into my head (I haven't slept for over 48hours except for going unconscious a few times! It's the only time that anything sensible seems to enter my head!). Listen to the explanation before automatically rejecting it ok? When you indicated to your food and fluid bag (or rocket pack! cos the fluid bags sometimes look like those typically red parts on any carton involving a jet pack, and it is partially inside and partially outside, you know the bits that get flamey, rocket boosty things. You see it on the very bottom of space stuff that lifts off from earth, just google a picture of anything about to be launched into space in a non fictional way, and look right where it touches or almost touches the ground...). Anyway, the fact you referred to it as 'energy' made me think about an advert we had/have in the UK about batteries. It contains a character,, which is a pink bunny called 'the energiser bunny'. Loosely based on the hare and the tortoise race story, where 'slow and steady wins the race', the advert has a good rabbit and a bad rabbit in a race. The bad rabbit is one of many 'baddie' rabbits whom in the past have challenged him to a race. The baddie rabbits mimic the hare and races ahead and you see them pass the energizer bunny, then emerges near the next rabbit looking totally exhausted just as the energizer bunny is coming and they switch places just as the previous baddie collapses, this continues a few more times with the energizer bunny winning the race just as the baddie collapses a few bunny steps from the finish line. However, during the race they all wear rucksacks, and when you show the behind shots you see the batteries they are using, and the brands of them. You could call your 'energy' your energizer, so when you do a video about a 'what I eat', you could say that for the next few hours from breakfast, I will be consuming a banana and my energizer, or maybe call it an 'energizer shake' cos you shake the can before you fill the bag up! In also thought of you because the bunny is vibrant pink, and I learned that you like pink, and I find you as a person even extremely unwell to be a very vibrant person! I did think that the combination of you and Harlow could mean you are the Energizer Hippo! Then I thought that it sounded as if Harlow had formula! Yet, I don't think you would be a bunny if you were an animal. So what animal do you think you are most like and why? Also, what do you think of my random idea?
