He is an awesome companion I'm sure. He quickly responded to your commends and was very sweet 😊

OMG, I think I'm in love with his sweet face. Here hold my bone and I'll get your sweatshirt. This is porterk9 from Inspire service dog thread. Thanks for posting. I'm so impressed with the nickel pickup!

My SDiT hasn't learned any tasks yet, but hopefully by next month he will know at least one :)

He is very good at his task work! Awesome job! I just got my new service dog prospect puppy a week ago, so now my current SD can begin retiring.

Awwww good puppers Trek! love the last bit when he gets stuck behind the couch. I think that's something that is often understated with service dogs. They bring us so much joy and happiness just by being their goofy selves lol!

For my anxiety attacks I’m going to have a mini fridge full of water with a tug toy attached to the handle and next to it a bottle of my “emergency” meds (meds that help me a bit when I have an anxiety attack really bad) so my sd will beable to get it for me.

I do not disagree with the most part of this and yes the coin dropping is helpful for mobility service yet it may be concerning. Are u sure there is no way he can accidentally swallow it?
@emmah13695 жыл бұрын
Ace and Soda Even if he was to swallow it, he would most likely be fine, after a little while he would just poop it out, of course, if it was something like several quarters, it may be a good idea to get him checked out.

Did you train Trek to learn how to pick different things yourself or was he trained by a professional trainer? I am training my service dog myself and need to teach her to pick things up off the floor for me. Do you know of a book or video on how to train them to pick up.

Okay how do you keep him from helping himself to stuff in the fridge, cabinet and/or letting himself out? I have had to wait on this because my aussie shepherd is a smarty pants, so I am waiting til she is more mature and hoping for the best. Really share, because this is my first time training. We actually had to back off training as she got so excited since she turned 6 months and stopped teething, so we have just really focused on getting her to train more perfectly and calmly-lol, hope that gets better too. Thanks for sharing this, very nice dog. You have obviously done a great job.

This is old, but you have to train the dog to bring you food, and that not all food is for them. Having a dog fetch a banana works well to start, because it is technically food, but also not so appealing. Also the dog naturally will recognize opening the fridge as the reward, so most of the time won’t start going through the fridge.

Yes I have ataxia and my dog needs to pick things up for me or I fall flat on my face. My dog is a Chihuahua cross and I have a walker with a basket attached to it. If I drop anything I point to it and tell her to get it and bend my knee a little. She jumps down off of my knee picks up what has fallen and uses my knee once again to jump back in the basket and I take what I dropped out of her mouth. She also picks up everything in my house and puts her bowl of food on the floor and eats it and then puts her dish in my hand. She does a lot more things to help me out with my ataxia but perhaps you've never met anyone with the disorder. I fall over if I bend over. That is a service dog actually.

You need a service dog?????????
@lancegoodthrust78195 жыл бұрын
You seem to be able to get around quite well. Give that dog to someone that really needs him.
@jpmoney87944 жыл бұрын
Lance Goodthrust it’s not your job to tell her how she gets around you aren’t her doctor and you sound like a dick. Not all disabilities are visible. I have nerve damage in my spine and have issues bending and walking stairs but if you were to see me i get around “fine”. Worry about yourself and not anyone else.
