@kkthxk they never said the Tesla would be maintenance free, it still needs new stuff once in a while but oil changes, change of toothed belt $500, replacement of EGR valve $1000 and other motor services are history. You probably won't need to replace your brake pads ever, just clean them once in a while!

I have a 15 year old car. It costs $500 to service yearly. Doubt the Model 3 is less than that, even just looking at this video. Any modern car will be more expensive to service. Things are harder to get to and there's more that can break, usually electric equipment.
@CAHE4KA76

@@zolikoff I have a 10 year old car. I spend 500-1000 every quarter to getting fixed what is broken. It would cost me 20-25 to get to work and back every day because its average consumption is 18 MPG. It is $500 a month. At the same time driving a Tesla costs me $4 the same distance. It is under $100 a month. Plus, it does not pollute the air where I live.

When I first got my model 3, they installed the steering wheel incorrectly from the factory, which they considered an alignment issue. When I went in to get it fixed, they asked me in a condescending tone, "Are you sure you have an alignment issue?". I gave the guy a blank stare, and then said, "Yeah, pretty sure." Tesla service guy, "Okay, alignments take 30 minutes." 2 hours later... Tesla service guy, "Your car was out of alignment." Me: "Holy shit, I had no idea...." Conclusion: from watching this video, I'd rather get my model 3 serviced with you guys. Good thing I live in Massachusetts.

John Abrahamsen : I understand the “black art” stigma. Welding evolved from smithing which, in its day, was truly specialized craft and not accessible in any way to most people. Having done a lot of my own routine maintenance on previous autos for years ( my last gasser had over 500K on it when I gave it away) I really appreciate the design and ease of access to perform simple maintenance procedures. I am retired military (USCG) aircraft aircrew/maintenance mechanic so I can really appreciate a good design when I see one. In the Guard if we crapped out an engine away from homeplate the base would send us a new one and we came home when WE fixed it, we did it all. Braking from time to time helps to prevent a rust film on the brake pads. You see this a lot on cars (of any type) that are not used for a long time, i.e. when being out for sale. So yes, some braking does indeed help to keep your brakes "healthier" and especially helps getting the full braking power when you need it. Also, it uses the brakes so little that you won't have to worry about exchanging it sooner.
@fatmybutbogs

The Tesla's don't have Regen brakes through the brake pedal. So as long as you use your brake, it's wearing the pads and rotors. Unlike a hybrid.

@@custos3249 😏 Come on, bud. Those momma jokes belong in the playground. How old are you? If you're under 14, then I'll pretend like I didn't read your lame joke. Otherwise grow up and learn how to punch back like a man.

@@custos3249 Okay, it's clear you're only good at telling your momma jokes or copying and pasting someone else's jokes (I doubt the joke you posted is yours). You could have said something about my Ford, bud. It would have been a solid comeback... Instead of a lame and unoriginal momma joke. I'm done with you since you're just a kid (mentally and/or physically). I'd be punching down and that's not what I'm about. I'll be the adult (cause technically I have no choice 😏) and walk away. If you want to believe you've won, go ahead. 🏆 Here's your participation trophy.

The early model S required oil change at 12k miles and then every 50k miles. The model 3's seem to go much further between recommended changes.
