How to make sesame seed milk
Delicious, subtly sweet, organic sesame seed milk. A great, homemade alternative to store-bought nut milk.

I dry blend seeds first, then soak them in one cup of water for 2 hours and then add remaining 3 cups of water and blend it all together with a banana and dates. So there is no need to use the bag or anything really, everything stays in the milk.

At that point bro, by adding dates, bananas etc you made a friggin smoothie not nut milk lol. You've also done nothing about the phytates with your little 2 hour soak after grinding them.

it's a hard life for farmers getting up before daybreak, herding up all the sesames, washing off their tiny nipples and fitting the milking machine to them.

Hi Cherie, I've just been binge watching ALLL your videos and each one is FABULOUS!!! Congrats gorgeous lady! And yes please to the nasturtium capers :) I was sowing a whole bunch of stuff in the patch today and my nasturtiums are going off - their seeds won't be far away. I tried capering them a couple of years ago but they went nasty so I'm super keen to try again using your method. Hope I can make it out to a Barossa gathering sometime soon, look forward to seeing you then xo

Can you do the same thing with almonds? Do you have to roast or soak the sesame seeds before?

Thank you Cherie! Do I need to warm the milk at all before storing? or can I just bottle it straight from the blender and into the fridge? I want to make a litre and I won't be able to finish it all in one go

Are you sesame seed hulled or unhulled? Don't you need to soak them first? I've made a lot of sesame milk and I use hulled seeds that I soak for a few hours... just my habit.

I NEVER ask a vegan where s/he gets his/her protein because there are many vegan sources of protein. What I ask is "Where do you get your B12" because I know they CANNOT get enough B12 without supplementation...something that was NOT POSSIBLE with early man on this planet. That, and other health reasons, is why I eat plenty of red meat. I'm now 72 years old and I have not been ill at all, not even with a headache or cold, since I was 8 years old when I had a cold. That's because I'm a health nut. NOTHING passes my lips that is not a health food. And a side advantage of that is that I grew to LOVE health foods and don't like the taste of crap like sugar/sweeteners and things that early man had no access to. I'm a living legend as far as health is concerned and I owe that to common sense.

B12 is found in the soil. If you eat straight from nature ( wild vegetation) you get b12 . Animals have b12 because they eat close to soil.

I read that the bitterness was from the phytates. I wasted 2 bottles of homemade sesame milk because it was so bitter . I had even added dates maple syrup and vanilla and it was still bitter. So after further investigation I found that phytates need to be removed. I'm Interested in further information.

@@pamdawson8598 In-home food preparation techniques may break down the phytic acid in all of these foods. Simply cooking the food will reduce the phytic acid to some degree. More effective methods are soaking in an acid medium, sprouting, and lactic acid fermentation such as in sourdough and pickling en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytic_acid#Food_science

This is very unhealthy. 1 cup of sesame seeds contains about 30 grams of polyunsaturated fatty acids. It looks like you got 4 servings out of that, so about 7.5 grams of PUFAs per serving, which is equivalent to one tablespoon of soybean oil. That's about 3-6 times more than what you should be eating in an entire day, and about 700 times more than what you'd get from 1 cup of whole dairy milk. Seeds should be eaten sparingly; we aren't birds and didn't evolve eating seeds as a staple food. If you want milk, just drink milk. If you can't bring yourself to drink milk, drink water instead and get your calcium from greens. These "plant based alternative" processed foods are almost always extremely unhealthy when you break them down to their core components.
