I hope this gets to be on the next Old School DVD boxset.

Seseme Street was way ahead of its time when it came to tolerating, accepting and respecting different people with all different kinds of dissibilities. Short films like this proved it.

Nothing on television is more wonderful and beautifully educational than the OLD Sesame Street. The lack of it makes me want to cry.

What I like about this little film is the fact that this boy is interacting with other kids, and not letting his disability stop him from doing the things that he enjoys doing. That was the really cool thing about "Old-School" Sesame Street. Thanks for bringing back these good memories.

A beautiful day. He gets out in his chair and plays with his friends, one of them walks him home afterwards and he's in the door safely. Disabilities don't have to keep anyone from enjoying life.

Having a classic sesame street marathon, brings back innocent childhood memories when you had no troubles or worries.

I remember watching this segment as a child in the 80's, thinking it was kinda cool what the kid could do, and that the song was kinda sweet. I now have a son who uses a wheelchair, so now this video REALLY hits home. Thanks for uploading!

This is such an amazing song. It manages to be hopeful, joyful, and melancholy at the same time. Peace.

The last time I saw this, I was like 4 or 5 and had no understanding of why people needed wheelchairs. I wanted to be in a wheelchair just so I could do all of the cool things this kid did. Now, at 31 years old, I obviously have a greater understanding of why some people need wheelchairs, a great respect for the courage and strength these people demonstrate, and a respect for Sesame Street in honoring diversity and adversity. This brought back memories!

Thanks for posting. I hadn’t seen this in years and quite frankly had forgotten about it, but watching this and the words just came right back and flooded my brain with happy memories. Thanks again.

This sounds like Randy Newman who sang "You've Got A Friend In Me"

What a beautiful song! The message that being handicapped doesn't necessarily mean helplessness is clearly stated. Such a feel good song too.
