THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPPORT!
The first video I made (if you missed it, check it out here: • Day in the Life of an ... ) has now received over 20,000 views after just 4 months! I am blown away by the likes, comments, and views I have gotten, and it's all thanks to each of you.
In order to celebrate so many views on my previous video, I decided to put together another one for you all! This time, I do a van loading demonstration, and show you what I do when I have 300+ packages to deliver. I hope you enjoy watching it, and as always, please let me know if you have any suggestions, comments, questions, etc.
Have a wonderful day! :)

Hi Karissa, well done organizing all the bags there. I like the way you arrange the bags for the easiest access. Years ago, I used to work with looking after office files and keeping them in strict numerical order made all the difference. I remember in each section of shelf, I tried to start with file numbers ending in a 1 and ending the section with file numbers ending in 0. This actually made it far easier to located wanted files when needed. Anyway, take care. Robert.

My dsp makes us load a very different way. Not sure why, but it helps. We basically stack the totes 3 high, and cube out the middle of the van Going left to right. The first 3 totes are easily accessible behind the drivers seat using the first shelf (this shelf is also used as a desk to organize your packages). All the other shelves are put up. Once the totes are all stacked…the very back on the van is used for any overflow. If done right, the totes should work as a wall for the overflow, therefore the only way to get to the overflow is through the back doors. Have you seen this method used?
@KPNation2
@KPNation2 2 жыл бұрын
I think I have. But I feel like I would have to see it done and try it out to know if I would like it or not! I guess everyone will have a different method that they like and works for them. :)

@@KPNation2 I like it, it’s really good for a bunch of bags, and there’s so much space left in the back for overflow. The only problem is the bags will tumble over sometimes and that kind of ruins the organization, but yea method has its pros and cons!

@KPNation2
@KPNation2 2 жыл бұрын
Regular shifts are 10 hours. But it’s different every day depending on the work load and how many packages need to be delivered. You could work anywhere from 7-12 hours. And no, you do not get the same route every day. It depends, you could have the same route but it’s not guaranteed. Amazon assigns the drivers their routes.
@bilee01
@bilee01 2 жыл бұрын
Question. Im new. Lil over a week into the job. I’m still on my “nursery ” rout. But i still get over 300 packages. If a nursery rout has that much package then whats a full rout? Also how long do you stay on a nursery. Also is it back if im getting rescued on a nursery rout?
@KPNation2
@KPNation2 2 жыл бұрын
That’s a big nursery route! I guess it depends on where you’re delivering but out of my station, a normal route would be anywhere between 250-400 packages. I believe you stay on nursery routes for 2 weeks. And again, it depends on the station. It’s definitely not ideal to be getting rescued on a nursery route. It also depends on why they are rescuing. Is it because you actually couldn’t finish it in time or is it because someone who had a smaller route than you got done and just came to help? Idk just some thoughts to ponder. It definitely takes time though to get the swing of things and be fast and efficient at it! Keep going, you’ll get there eventually! You got this :)

Jeez I am not looking forward to loading my van like that. But I don't think we are that busy as our Winnipeg fulfillment center just opened in Sep.2021. My van has like 450 miles. What does your DSP pay? I was worried about using an earbud to listen to podcasts or running my engine in between stops but there is no int camera yet even on these new Amazon branded vans. Im allready in trouble for not calling the customer more often and taking photos of the box with the address # in the background.
@KPNation2
@KPNation2 2 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. Lucky that you don’t have cameras yet. They are a pain!!! 😂 my DSP pays $19/hr. because they hold you to high standards and expect you to finish your route without help, as well as being a good driver with good FICO scores etc. :)
@Liefpj
@Liefpj 2 жыл бұрын
@@KPNation2 Yeah my first two shifts were pretty easy about 90 to 95 stops. All houses. Third shift was only 60 stops😏 1st two hours were houses and then I had to help a new person who was wasting lots of time trying to call each customer. They made me shadow her for about an hour and then take one of her bags(20 packages). And then I get solid apartments for the rest of my shift! 10 hours into my shift and I still hadn’t even touched the bag from her. Another driver had to come rescue me and take half my last bag. I was out of there 12 hrs total. I think I’m off probation now. My fourth shift is in a couple days.

No, you shouldn’t have to call to find out if you’re working. I’m not sure if different DSP’s do it differently but you should get your schedule a week or so in advance. Yup, I still work there. :) I mainly do dispatch duties though with a drive shift every now and then. And it depends on how you look at it. I think we have about 80 employed drivers or so and have between 25-40 routes on any given day. 32-34 would be an average number of routes we take each day. We mainly use prime vans, with a few white vans. We don’t have step vans. :) Also, I finally responded to your other comment, and answered your question there :) thanks for the comments!

@@KPNation2 Good to hear from you, again thanks for your tips. 80 employees is definitely more than how much my DSP has, we have been trying to hire more drivers recently bc my managers had to let a lot of them go in the past two months or so due to performance issues. Wow 30+ routes a day still sounds like a big number to me. Same here for us, we mainly use prime vans now since the peak season ended (we also used rental white vans before, mainly Fords) and managers are currently getting registrations for our new step vans. Our van fleet for the time being are prime Ford Transits and Ram Promasters (latter of which i drove the most so far).
