Stu, you really summed up what I've been trying to get my head around. I think it's this sort of meta entertainment where we get to see a small curated look behind the curtain. The pandemic helped humanize Seth as we started to see him broadcasting in the same way I was seeing my coworkers every day. Then couple that with Seth's charming way of breaking from the script and/or ranting in such a funny way and the show really starts to satisfy me on a para-social kind of way. The way he addresses the jackals and builds additional content out of it is pure genius. I love all of this. And if you are reading this far, I suspect you do too.

My favorite part of surprise inspection is how you really do get a feel for which writers write which jokes, and what their personal senses of humor and comedic stylings are. CORRECTION: the “brain-eating parasite” in Ally’s joke about pets is presumably referring to Toxoplasma gondii. However, while this pathogen is found in feline feces and can infect the brain (leading to encephalitis), it wouldn’t be classified as ‘brain-eating’ as it does not cause tissue necrosis, only inflammation.

So the thing I like about this is traditionally late night television has pretended there was no writers whereas Seth specifically let's just get a personal relationship with each of his writers. Between surprise inspection, anecdotes on corrections, or other segments like jokes Seth can't tell really was get to know the people that make the show happen instead of just the main face of the show. And I love it.

@@SquiresIsle And who do you think would be well suited to the “Hop on Pop” joke? I’m proposing a segment in which, similar to how Collin and Che each try to get the other cancelled, Seth simply uses a sacrificial lamb as a mouth piece for all the jokes that are humorous yet in awful taste

Apparently, some jackals have forgotten that this was addressed in Corrections and that some modern crossbows do shoot arrows and the distinction is, of course, length. 16" or shorter, it's a bolt; longer than that and it's an arrow.
