About five years ago, Seth Rogen posted a picture on Instagram of seven rudimentary clay objects with the caption: “So maybe I joined a pottery studio so I could start making my own ashtrays.” Now, he’s taken his love for pottery to the next level by signing up as an executive producer for the competition show The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down. He also appears throughout the series as a guest judge. Seth tells Tom Power what inspired his love of pottery, if he finds it therapeutic, and how the imagery and design around weed paraphernalia has changed since legalization.

I was not expecting to enjoy this interview as much as I did. I’m glad I opened up to his thoughts and was surprised to find his creative journey so inspiring.

20:56 - this is so true about trying to learn new things as an adult. We spend so much of our early years trying to be good at something and when we can accomplish being good at anything, even just simply day to day life, we feel like we're done. And it is very humbling to start at the beginning of something way out side of one's wheel house. I figured this out teaching folk dance to adults (and with folk dance, there is this physical component. We are asking people to stand up and move their bodies in front of others) I often tell people they have to get past that early stage of feeling a bit lost and clumsy in order to figure out if they really like a new endeavor. I knew almost nothing about Seth but I have an enduring love of the Great British Pottery Throw Down so I was keen to watch the Canadian version. I was really impressed with some of the art produced in the first season (I would seriously consider buying some of it!) and I was impressed with Seth. Good for him on recognizing the charm and heart of the original British version and working to preserve that. I have a lot of admiration for him shepherding this program.

They should have won at least a Seth Rogan Bong for participation. It's funny that on houseplant there is a link titled "reefer a friend"

Inhaling smoke is bad for you. No matter what kind of smoke it is. Some smoke is worse than others, but inhaling any smoke is bad for you. That doesn't stop me from taking advantage of the law in my state, but inhaling smoke is still something that a person should not do.
