The problem is that there is always something called generation gap because of which the way daughters expect to be cared for, and the way dads care are different. Daughters want independence, but dads are scared for their little darling's security. In this particular case, did the girl get into trouble because of her own stupidity or because of her dad?

Generation gap is one thing, but no letting your daughter grow up and have some freedom is wrong. Yes, fathers are the first men to protect their children, but there is an extent to which that protection begins to choke the child to desperate measures like in Aarti's case. Aarti's mother's fear of her husband meant that she never stood up for herself or her daughter, but Aarti wanted to grow up and do the same things her friends were allowed to, like cut her hair or dress as she liked... at least to an extent. Aarti felt like her home was like a jail that she could only do want the the Colonel, her father allowed her to do and if she ever made the mistake of speaking up then she would be beaten up and verbally abused by her dad. That is been way too protective of his daughter Global citizen... all parents need to understand that they can't wrap their children cotton wool for their entire lives. Yes Aarti should have been more careful of who she was talking to and opening up to, but she wanted some control of her own life so in Aarti's case, both Aarti and her parents are in fault. Aarti because she didn't think twice before running away from home, and her parent more so because they (her father) never allowed her to do anything she wanted to do and didn't give her even the tiniest bit of freedom to do anything that she wanted to do other than study and have her own phone. Another huge problem in India is the so called respect and reputation of a family. I'm sorry but how could going getting her hair cut or going out with female friends tarnish her family's reputation? Can't Indian dads see their children as people and not something that has to be kept in tight quarters to protect the family's reputation?

It is just that they grew up in a different generation. What is required is letting go after a certain age. Which is what dads and even brothers have trouble with. But, after certain age, both boys and girls have to realize their responsibility and start living a practical life. Problem is on both sides.

Bipin Ale very true. Some time spent in juvenile home will teach him what life is about without phones and tantrums. He should be sent there. If the kid didn't participate in the lying to girls, for a phone, a life could have been saved. But then, juvenile homes are used for murderer psycho rapists here. And actual child offenders are let off like this.

He should be life imprisoned as per his intentions and deed he killed the girl. If set free he will do more crimes for sure. Murderer of Niraj Grover case, Maria Susairaj set free.within 2 years she did multi crore scam.

Piyush was charged with Attempted Murder and some other charges so he should in Jail. As for the little boy, he only called the girls and spoke to them as a little boy would talk to his elder sister. He didn't know what Piyush was planning and only went along with him because he was scared of how is parents would have reacted if they found out the truth. Piyush should never sold a mobile phone or sim card to a 10 year old to begin with... if he was a good person he would have told the child to go home and come back with his parents to buy the phone and sim card and not be swayed by the money. He should have questioned where a child his age would have gotten his hand on such an amount of money but he didn't. All he saw was a way to trap innocent girls with the help of a innocent child. I'm sure the child and his parents would have learnt a few important lesson is all of this mess, but he was not an equal partner in the crime, he's a innocent little boy whose only interest was to have a phone of his own to probably games on.
