Huge soccer fan here. This is honestly so American of the MLS to do this. With no promotion/relegation our system is sub-par. MLS is making a business decision, they are not concerned with anything else. I've tried again and again, to get into the MLS. I can't. FA Cup is one of the greatest tourney's in any sport in the world.

Bravo, Seton! I love the DFB Pokal in Germany and wish US Soccer and MLS had a greater appreciation for all its clubs regardless of level. Sad move.

US Soccer Federation blocked the move; so I’m happy about that

America isn't about having consequences for doing poorly. It's all about stupid and selfish. Addendum: Major props to Seton for being so passionate about it, and calling out MLS.

At this rate, I’ll start watching USL more than MLS! Luckily the US Soccer Federation blocked this move

FACTS SETON! Literally, turning their backs on the fundamentals of the game....

Way to go, Seton!! As a USL team supporter, I love when they knock out MLS teams in the Open Cup.

Thank you for bringing attention to this fiasco at the hands of MLS thinking that its about them and only them especially to an audience to this show that may not really care about soccer in America and the importance of the US Open Cup to the growth of soccer in this country.

Seton probably knows that this is in the fine tradition of the NCAA which effectively banned many smaller schools from D-1 soccer back in the 80s when small schools were going to finals. They made it impossible for a school that could not provide athletic scholarships or that were D-1 in a single sport to remain in D-1. It knocked my Alma Mater out.

Best of the Week: US Soccer Federation blocked this 🙌🏻. The rules state that you HAVE to play in the Open Cup in order to keep your “First/Top Division” status

They claim schedule congestion yet they invented two tournaments in 6 years. This is gunna take 2 games off the schedule for most teams. Dump the leagues cup!

Agreeded. Another reason why the world look at the MLS as a lower league. They are missing the passion for growing the game and keep tradition of the oldest tournament.

Understand this move is all about money. MLS does not have the TV rights for the tournament, so they don't want another entity making money off their product. This move is a big step back for soccer in the U.S.

MLS wants to an ignore the way world football operates and have some sort of bizarro world type soccer federation where they don’t have to play CCL or US open Cup. While I love pro wrestling I’m not gonna have that type of environment in us soccer at all. Time for Garber to resign and appoint someone who actually cares about the worlds game in charge

I am a huge soccer/football fan. I have been a LA Galaxy fan but I will never watch or support MLS again until they go back into the US Open Cup and start promotion and relegation. SHAME ON MLS!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN UNTIL THEY FIX THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MLS withdrew because Columbus Crew lost to a semi pro team....don't get it twisted lol
@vortexathletic6 ай бұрын
USL Championship and USL League 1 are still considered “professional”. Only the teams below them are semi-pro or amateur
@javierdelgado15546 ай бұрын
@@vortexathletic are the players making MLS money? If they aren't, then why aren't they playing in the MLS or some other big league, per say?

Wholeheartedly agree. Just another way of our capitalistic greed ruining the beautiful game. It’s sad really cause we claim to love “underdogs” in American sports… but we rly don’t

Sample 1000 people in this country. Ask them "What is the US Open Cup?" How many will say "A golf tournament"? This isnt about growing soccer. It's about co-opting the value and the credibility of MLS for the benefit of USL. Why would MLS do that?
