Beautiful job Rob 👍 what would happen to the damp in the fireplace when it gets a fire going inside?
@craigstyrin34534 ай бұрын
@@martin2466 I thought it was, what is going in it then? Or is it just a fire place with no fire?

Looking good rob . I see your using what looks like vintage brick trowel lately .

Yeah, I started using it about 3 years ago, I missed that extra weight, the sound and the wooden handle.. love it

Beautiful design! Do you build the inside of the fireplace before building the arch?
@robsonger14 ай бұрын
Yes, I'll get most of the gathering done and then get the arch in

My guess you dont read comments. Its been said by myself and others before, the damp tray needs to be lapped under the membrane and either the membrane is taped or stapled over the top of the tray. Any moisture running down the membrane will run behind the tray therefore rendering the tray useless. But as someone who has built timber frame houses for over 35 years what would i know. Also I havent seen any straps down onto the brickwork from the timber frame.

The tray doesn't need to be there. It's not on the drawing, we simply added it because the DPC on the detailed drawings is set at ground level, so for good practice we added it. There is a bead of mastic at the junction as a token gesture as disrupting the membrane was considered to risky and time consuming for additional work that wasn't asked for.

tough crowd this rob. Thinking of throwing in a one liner to lighten the mood.
