thx for the video now i do know what does the reverse do in my controller im not sure did it hear good the gearing but i think at its fine if i dont hit 0-100 full power then im fine so i need be careful next time when i go drive it at i dont broke it motor has too much juice

I just installed a metal spur gear and I’ve done the paper method and it’s very noisy regardless where I set it. Just wondering if it’s normal for metal spur gears. It seems like a metal gear likes to be a little tighter. I pull the paper out and it does not rip.

Metal spur with a metal pinion will be noisy if you are used to plastic. Just no way around it. Occasionally i use ptfe lube with metal on metals which helps a little. You dont want to use anything that will collect dirt like grease or oils. The good news about metal and metal is if your mesh is wrong you usually know it just by looking. Metal shavings will collect around the motor and gears. Plastic spurs mostly just deform and melt a little. Metal “chisels” and your left with real fine shavings that look like shiny dust. If you have that, your getting wear and will want examine your mesh.

How often should we check our backlash? Every run every other run?

On paper…every run. There is always the possibility of things moving and changing, especially if ur hard bashing and jumping. But reality…I check maybe every 3-4 runs. You can feel and hear when things move enough to be major concern and you can see wear on the gears…. and I do at least look things over every run typically.

No need to oil or grease these gears. Could collect dirt and grime which could effect the gears but likely not. Just will make a mess throwing it all over.

4:30 thats a bullshit method that depends on a lot of things the biggest being how strong your motor (magnets) are and how quick you pull it , oh and what kind of paper. 4:56 not a flick but yes thats the best way.
