Afternoon cw. Awesome 🇺🇲 die set. Be way go if ur long rang prs shooter or like shooting persison at distance. Dont Franklin arsenal make a good seating die that universal?

I have it and have reviewed it previously James. It is not at all a match seater. Best I would describe it would be a VLD bullet Seater.

Hi Just Watched your video. I just bought this Forster Die Set, and have been running into issues with the seating stem causing an actual Ring "Dent" on my bullets, and not just a ring mar from the stem. I have this die installed as per the Forster directions with the ram all the way up and the sleeve compressed all the way and then backing it off one full turn per instructions. (I am using a Hornady Lock-n-Load Classic Single Stage Press). However, I had my Ram all the way up (and left it in the up position) when I screwed in the die. I did not screw it in, in real small increments and keep backing the ram down as you did because I didn't read that I was supposed to in the instructions. I wonder if this is where I am going wrong? I definately was getting cam over when I tried to seat my bullets as slow as I could at the bottom of the stroke and the ram all the way up. at the 4:15 - 4:25 mark on your video you clearly state "you don't want cam over," but you didn't say why? is this possibly my issue that is causing my ring dents in some bullets, which causes very inconsistent seating depths? Thank you for your time.

Hello Dave, sorry to read of the problems. It sounds to me like you've got quite a bit of neck tension. Or maybe you're using vomit bullets that are very thin skinned. Usually jacket of bullets will have no marking from seating. You could also have a sharp edge on the cedar stem inside the dye. So possibly disassemble the cedar die and look at that stem that cup and maybe with a piece of very fine 600 or 800 grit sandpaper on your finger you could break that edge so it's not quite so sharp where it touches the bullet. Off the top of my head.

@cw2a Thanks for your reply. I will look at it some more. I'm loading 7mm PRC with Hornady 175 ELD-X, so yes, the jackets may be a little thin skinned where the seating stem contacts the bullet. The Brass is "New" unfired Hornady 7mm PRC Brass. I did run the brass through the Forster Full Length bushing die with a .312" bushing and with the expander ball in the die to open up and uniform any dented necks as they came in a bag. For reference , loaded round measures .314" at the neck with a bullet in it, so my neck tension shouldn't be too much at all, but the necks are definitely squeaky clean being new. I may try annealing this brand new brass to see if it helps in lessoning the seating pressure as well as adding some dry graphite powder. I also will probably set up my ultramicrometer seating die like you did to avoid any "Cam over"

@@daveenriquez7790 I wouldnt lube bullets in necks. WO known neck thick I cannot tell you your tension. But if your over .003 this could do it. I get this when I have hard brass. I have switched to a mandrel for all my necks, some time back, and its helped immensely. Fodters are better then most IMHO to this regard but a mandrel has probably a 1000% more contact so far far more uniform. I have a video on my mandrel die.

As for cam over on seating die. I am speaking to a hard cam over inside the match seater die. Yes the press gets a full stroke and will cam over but it is NOT exerting stress to die as it would for some sizing. Follow? Sorry for confusion. Happy ta help so dont worry about more questions.
