Great demonstration!! I run a vf4 with a tr210 absolutely love it. One tip for you in parameters you can set that a axis so it reads zero on your g59. I believe it’s parameter 128 but don’t quote me that’s something you might have to call your haas dealer and ask them for your year make and model. Last thing I wanted to ask, I noticed with the umbrella tool carousel it looks like you have only so much room between the Trunnon and where the tool will hang. Does that mean you can only ever run short tools?
@ChipMonkeys
@ChipMonkeys 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Nice catch. I am limited on tool lengths. My max tool length is 6" before they hit the Trunnion. The Tools on the far-side of the carousel during the tool change never go above the trunnion, so they can be longer. : ) The biggest problem by far is, if the machine is shut down,... then it has to be "Homed." There is no way to get the long tools out of the Carousel before the machine is homed. I can only hold a part that's 6" square Max. So, long tools are not really problem. I'll check out the G59 0.00 parameter! Thanks for taking the time to let me know about it.

Take your numbers and use a CAD sketch to solve the triangles. Then move it to 90 (1 way) and check your numbers. This is my first thought. But, a tooling ball is the way to go. Great tutorial. I wondered your set up for regular 5 axis without DWS or TCPC haas option . I have couple question unclear about origin set up for CAM . If i have 3+2 axis so when i want to create a pocket toolpath on the side 90deg so do i have to create a TPlane have orgin at 0,0,0 ( world origin) wherever that be ?
@ChipMonkeys
@ChipMonkeys 4 жыл бұрын
Your ”setup” in CAM would be at G54 Zero. The Pocket operation is responsible for positioning the part for the pocket. - DWO & TCPC is not an option on the previous generation Haas control. DWO allows you to re-position the part on the trunnion without re-posting the G code from the CAM system in that new position. TCPC it allows for more control over the tip of the tool during simultaneous five axis programs.

@ChipMonkeys
@ChipMonkeys Жыл бұрын
Good question. What if the A rotary was at 90° : ) Then it would be rotating along the Y. It’s probably better to think of it as the “Slave” rotary. You can also rotate the Trunnion 90°, but it would still program as an A. On a Trunnion I understand it as: A is the Master, and B the slave. No hard and fast letter designations here. I hope that helps, Haas has an excellent video that goes over the axes.

In some situations, you're right. Like, for a fixed rotary. But, Right now my Trunnion is turned sideways. Should we relabel? ... What if the A rotates 90 degrees? Then C should now be called B? In this situation it's better to think of them as "Master" and "Slave" rotary axes.

It's definitely a C Axis. C rotates about Z . That trunnion from factory is set flat at A0. It's home position was not meant to be tipped over at 90. If it were a horizontal it would be a different story

I know I’m a year late here, but I want to provide clarification here. In general, you are correct about B-axis rotating about the Y-axis, and C-axis rotating about Z-axis. This is typically the norm. The only exception here is with Haas. They label 4th as A and 5th as B on mountable trunnions. They even label the 4th as A on their Horizontals, like the EC series, whereas it would usually be B on other typical Horizontals. Go figure…
